Actually I agreed with you last week after looking at the whole picture. Just wouldn't ADMIT it. I think he'll at least be on the PS.

Batch looked good to me as always.

Keep Batch and Johnson; cut Byron.

You have to realize that Batch doesn't have the same playcalls he does in a regular season game.

I though Charlie played a smart safe game. He didn't take chances and made smart calls. Good for the preseason and good for our backup. The 4th stringer (Johsnon) played great against the other back ups. I like his cut back toward the center of the field to keep the clock moving just before the 2 minute warning.

Batch had zero time to throw last night. Our line played horrible for him, even by our standards.

One advantage Batch has (and its a big one in my opinion) is Ben is comfortable with him. Charlie is in the film room with Ben, and usually right next to him on the sideline to help him see what's happening as the game unfolds.

To me that's a pretty big deal... So unless #8 (sad I cant remember his name) is lightyears ahead of Charlie, or looks like he potentially will be very good, the edge goes to Charlie.

Johnson looked very comfortable out there, they better keep this guy around ( by the impressed look on Tomlin's face I think he will be sticking around) get him out there after Ben lets see what he can do against a better D.

Yep. Put ole Leftovers back on the block. He is of zero value to the Steelers.

I thought Johnson played lights-out. After saying that, I believe he goes to the PS with no worries of him being picked up. I'm not a Leftwich homer but I do believe he's one of the best #2's out there. Just my take on it.

Can't be any worse than the last Quarterback who wore # 8 and we all know who that was...

People on here let their opinions get swayed way too easily by one preseason outing. Everyone was ready to cut him before the first preseason game was even over, now everyone's sold after game 2. I admit he definitely looked better in game 2, but he also hit some WIDE OPEN receivers on the bigger plays.

To me he hasn't beaten out Charlie or Leftwhich.

It's like this, Charlie doesn't have much time left. He's had his day in the sun. Lefty is a major injury waiting to happen. I like what I've seen and read about JJ and the Steelers have to have a long-term solution at back-up QB and someone to possibly groom as Ben's replacement. When I think of Charlie and Lefty, I don't think long-term. The Steelers will keep this kid and I predict he'll be on the final 53 at the end of the day.

Why though? Even if you think he has potential, I don't think he's better than Left or Charlie, so you can stash him on the PS and sign him to the roster if there's an injury.

Yeah but remember. We were all screaming TOMMY GUNN! He only had that one good year.
But I'm glad Ben came in the next year

You can, but you can essentially do the same thing with Charlie Batch. If the Steelers waive him, in all liklihood he won't be signed by another team and probably won't have any interest in signing with another team. He'll be available if the Steelers need him. I think the verdict is still out on JJ but he did show us all something the other night and has apparently impressed the coaches throughout training camp. Leftwich isn't getting any younger either and he's like a fragile statue everytime he sets up in the pocket. It's time for some new blood.
