Do you guys think he will end up being good?

I think he will be fine. I like this

    No Tomlin
    Ben is gone
AB puts on his big boy pants
get a good ILB, OLB CB, S

    Conner/juju/washington/another WR lead the way
defense actually creates turnovers and we actually run the ball well. Mason just needs to be a game manager.

    #7

    Too early to tell, however...

If he doesn't unseat Dobbs as #2 behind Ben by end of next training camp, then that speaks volumes.

Jury is out. I wasn't a big fan in college but only time will tell what he's about.

And, of course, if that happens - then we'll have a volume of # 2 the following season (when Ben retires).

I think going into year #2 he needs to unseat Dobbs as the back up. If he can't do that. Then I'm not liking what I'm seeing.

Needs reps, should see lots of Mason Rudolph is pre-season 2019. Of course even with that your not sure what you have until games matter.

Is AB gonna fight with him? I need his input to determine my answer.

of course it's too early. this is just more of a gut feeling thing. I think he can get it done if we build the team around him and don't have michelle tomlin

Pretty clear the plan was to let him learn on the sidelines and film room for a year then see how he does in OTA's and camp in 19. Barring Ben taking a retirement package unexpectedly, there is no reason to alter that course. If he can't beat out Dobbs by end of camp next year, then he isn't the future. I seriously doubt the team will hire an FA or draft a QB this year, but if they do then you know either MR or JD is gonzer.

I don’t really think he has “it” in a good way, but I also don’t think he has “it” in a bad way.

He probably won’t be putting the team on his shoulders, but he also won’t be the reason we could potentially suck.

Early prognosis is like a Case Keenum/Nick Foles QB. We can compete with that kind of QB.

we can compete with that kind of qb if we have a defense and can run the ball a little more effectively. Ben tries to carry this team a little too much but he likes it.

It is to early to say. I think next pre-season will be very telling in whether or not Rudolph is going to be Ben's heir apparent.

What we've really been missing these past few years is Troy's hair apparent. :lolol:

AB says “is he going to throw to me 20 times per game so I can get my stats? If no, then **** yes I’m gonna fight with him!”

Question. Pocket passer or scrambling quarterback? While the trend seems to be towards the RPO and the athletic ,scrambling quarterback, I don't think that style lasts very long in the NFL. Lamar Jackson is the flavor of the month right now, as was Deshaun Watson last year, but how long will that last?

That's what training camp is for. This is the drama we need and look forward to. Two guys battling it out ON THE FIELD and not in the press.

I like the kid. Hopefully he has been studying hard in his limbo year. I expect him to blow Dobbs away next summer. Dobbs is not a real QB, not even Slash 2 if you ask me. Mason is the clear front runner for the future unless he gets the Landry Jones syndrome which I have heard is highly contagious.
