    QB (3) - Ben, Leftwich, Charlie

    RB (5) - Mendenhall, Redman, Dwyer, Rainey, Batch

    FB (1) - W. Johnson

    WR (5) - Wallace, Brown, Sanders, Cotchery, Whoever

    TE (3) - Miller, Saunders, Pope

    OL (8) - Starks, Colon, Pouncey, DeCastro, Gilbert, Adams, Foster, Legursky

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    DL (7) - Keisel, Hood, Heyward, Woods /// Hampton, McLendon, Ta'amu
    LB (9) - Harrison, Woodley, Worilds, Carter /// Timmons, Foote, Sylvester, Spence /// B. Johnson
    CB (4) - Taylor, C. Allen, Lewis, C. Brown
    S (5) - Polamalu, Clark, Mundy, Allen, Cromartie-Smith
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    ST (3) - Suisham, Butler, Warren

    Robinson, Golden, Frederick, Beachum, Paulson, Ivy (eligible?) among those on practice squad.

    I'm not usually good at these, but I thought I'd give it a try. At tight end, I would have figured David Johnson would keep that 3rd spot, at least until Saunders returned. Before I didn't think Pope would make it, but now I think he does. He's Haley's boy, he knows the offense, and it's only the #2 spot for a few weeks and the #3 spot after that. Peele is very new and I'm not sold on McCoy, but there's still lots of time to change all that. On the OL, I tried to come up with a 9th guy. I really did! There is no one left that should ever see the field. At safety, I think they'll probably keep Will Allen, especially with Mundy starting week 1 (if he or Troy gets hurt, that puts DCS against Peyton Manning), but I figured I have to take at least one leap. I'm pulling for Damon. ***aaaaand oops, I miscounted and shorted myself a player, so Will is back in*** At punter, I'm happy to give it to Kapinos, but everything I read sounds like he's not coming back anytime soon. If we simply have to have a 9th OL, another route to go might be to roll with only 4 WRs since we'll have Heath and a plethora of receiver-friendly RBs to choose from (there's really no need to go 5 WR), but that could hurt us if there's an injury or two.

    Almost positive that Ivy isn't eligible for the practice squad.

    Would be a shame to lose him. My Madden-brain says cut Foote to make room for him, but Ivy hasn't shown enough to do it on merit yet. Maybe this season is Foote's surpirse swansong.

    I'm not trying to be an ass but who has time for this? I love the Steelers and everything but I don't have to time come up with my 53 man roster! I feel bad if I spend more than 15 minutes on this message board in one sitting.

    I have to agree with you, you should spend less time on this message board. I don't want anyone to feel bad.

    Does it take up that much time, though, really? The roster discussion, not being on the messageboard...

    Apparently some people have time for this. You have managed to spend your time insulting them rather than discussing football in any way. Congratulations on your superior use of time.

    I'm with theotherbigben. We should all align our feelings of guilt and level of Steelers compassion with his. We should also budget our time and schedules the way he does. We should do away with the ability to consider the fact that other people's lives are different in any ways. We should be ignorant asses, but right beforehand we should say it's an accident.

    I'm torn on a few things...they could keep 2 QBs (doubtful)...they could go with 4 WRs (and use some of the RBs/TEs wide)...

    QB (3) - Ben, Leftwich, Charlie

    RB (5) - Mendenhall, Redman, Dwyer, Rainey, Batch

    FB (1) - W. Johnson

    WR (4) - Wallace, Brown, Sanders, Cotchery

    TE (3) - Miller, Pope, Paulson? (Saunders doesnt count towards the roster while suspended to my knowledge...and as far as temporary #3 while he's gone...they all seem on even grounds so I'll go with this years draft pick for now)

    OL (9) - Starks, Colon, Pouncey, DeCastro, Gilbert, Adams, Foster, Legursky, Essex

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~(25)
    DL (7) - Keisel, Hood, Heyward, Woods /// Hampton, McLendon, Ta'amu
    LB (8) - Harrison, Woodley, Worilds, Carter /// Timmons, Foote, Spence, Sly (B Johnson showed some stuff, I'd like to find a home for him...maybe they keep 4 S's and have him as the 9th LB)
    CB (5) - Taylor, C. Allen, Lewis, C. Brown, ______ (not sure here yet...Frederick or whatever their 7th round pick maybe...i'm not sure...but I think they keep a 5th)
    S (5) - Polamalu, Clark, Mundy, Cromartie-Smith, Golden
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~(25)

    ST (3) - Suisham, Butler, Warren(3)

    ----------------------------

    This could change in the coming days...but for the moment this is how I see it.

    B Johnson IMO has moved ahead of of most of the backups...I believe he was calling the plays with the 2's last week of camp.

    Do we need 5 safeties? With Troy's track record of injury, maybe... but I would rather keep an extra LB with the possibility of shifting Spence back (if ABSOLUTELY NEEDED), as I think our LB back ups are better than the options at S. I'd keep Mortly Ivy over Will Allen, anyway.

    i think one of the 5 safeties will act as the 5th corner. golden and cromartie-smith have both played corner and safety. golden is the key guy in that role if needed. he's got the speed to do it. this kid would have gone higher in the draft if they didn't bounce him back and forth from safety to corner in college. he was a real steal as an udfa. :cool:
