I was thinking Colt McCoy would probably be pushing for the Browns to sign him.

Then I realized that Colt probably realizes nobody in that organization cares what he thinks.

I think we already have our token white wr in camp this year. We might as well just call it the 'Tyler Grisham' roster spot.

Shipley, if healthy, would be a lock to beat out the "other" WRs and win the #5 spot. Of course, we're well into camp and the preseason now. It's a little late to be adding someone to the mix. But from what I've heard of the other guys, they've all been really unimpressive. Shipley's got better chops than all of them, assuming he can still run a route.

Exactly my thoughts. Plus isnt Shipley still banged up right now? And I have a gut feeling that one of the higher ranked teams in the waiver order will scoop him up. But if they didnt I'd take him in a heart beat and can one of the scrub WRs and see what happens (especially if he'll be healthy soon).

I'm fine with good players coming when ever they can get them. I mean, the game opener isn't the superbowl and if we can get a better player now (or week 5) and they can contribute come the playoff stretch and beyond who cares. they are the better player. :superman:

Bingo. Cotchery was with us from the beginning last year but still didn't see action until the second half of the season. And he was a big help. I have no idea if Shipley's (knee?) is okay or not, but if it is I'd be happy to throw him into the mix. I can't imagine him losing, frankly.

Shipley would be a good pick up. I've watched him play on the Bengals since I live here and he is worth looking at.

A couple of years ago in Cincy I sat next to some Bungles fans and they were really talking Shipley up big time. So if Bungles fans like him you know he must really suck. I'm just joking really but still...

what about battle? we are talking the #5 guy. battle also is familiar with the team and the ST's as a gunner. he wasen't that bad of a receiver when used. he'd be about as cheap as they would come too. i'd have no problem with that move at this point. ofcourse giving the young guys another week won't hurt, if they were to then go after AB.

No thanks he can't stay healthy that's why the Bengals released him.

He's had one knee injury and suddenly he can't stay healthy?

    Might as well cut Mendy.

if mendy can't preform at some point this year because of it, he may very well get cut. it's not always multiple injuries that make a guy "not stay healthy" it could very well be the same injury linguring.

I completely understand not being able to perform after a knee injury as it is a major concern most of the time with football players but to say that players can't stay healthy after one injury is just tiresome.

I'd have Shipleys number on the short list. He's made some clutch catches over the years with the Bengals that were not very easy to make whatsoever.

Forget Mendy, we never should have drafted Casey Hampton after he tore his ACL in college. That guy couldn't stay healthy! Then he did it again in 2004, and we should have cut his ass right on the spot. Of course, we kept him like a bunch of idiots and he didn't do us any good in 2005 or after that. He just couldn't stay healthy!

Shipley has been healthy one year, not healthy the next. That's not a pattern, that's all of the years. Two. He's been hurt one. The year he was healthy, he performed very well and put up great numbers for a rookie. If he still can't run or cut, then that's a problem. But if he's looking like he can do those things or will be able to soon, he's absolutely worth a workout and maybe a signing. He's not only more proven then all of our current candidates, he probably also has more potential. And he's only in his third year. I don't see what's not to like.
