These are the top two things I like about what Haley said in the interview. Makes a lot of sense and it tells me that he knows a lot more then BA!

Re: A “ground and pound” offensive philosophy:
If we can win every game running it 35-40 times that would be great. Statistically, if you hand the ball off 30-plus times in a game, you’ve got a 90-plus% chance of winning. I think that it’s yet to be determined. We’ll play the way we need to play to win each and every week.

    BA didn't know that!

Do you have any packages for four wide receivers?
Yes. We definitely have them. We have five wide. Again, one of the things that I stand by and preach is try to get the best 11 on the field. I don’t want to just go four wides just to go four wides. If that fourth receiver isn’t clearly better than a tight end or a back then it’s hard to pull the trigger on that one. The philosophy is get the best 11 on the field. That goes for goal line, short yardage, red area, third down, all the different situational areas. That’s really the way we try to operate.

BA's philosophy was four wides just to go four wides! One of BA's biggest flaws SITUATIONAL FOOTBALL.....

Ok everyone strap your sarcasm seat belt on real tight because I am going from 0 to 1000 in a mil a second.

Whoa Whoa WHOA! Whoa there Todd Haley are you speaking the kings english, did you just pull some jive talk out your backside, what are you talking about Willis?

Play to their strengths? what a novel idea, I don't understand it but it is novel. I mean what is wrong with putting a guy out there that obviously can't execute in a zone blocking scheme and muttering some trite preformed responses like "The standard is the standard" or "We do not concern ourselves with the the world of what could have been, we live in the now for this football team" I mean they have worked so well at fitting that square peg into round holes for the last few years.

Isn't there some kind of rule against evaluating talent and then putting them on the field in situations where they can use that talent to the their fullest ability. Don't that have to fit into a system that they can never hope to execute properly? I mean really playing to their strengths how absurd.

Sarcasm done please return your tray tables to the full and upright locked position and exit the thread at the assigned exits. Thank you for flying sarcasm r us.

I absolutely love that comment by Haley. I honestly don't believe BA had a plan in his head with the way he called plays. He wanted to score but I'm not sure he had a plan of how to do it. He did things just for the sake of doing them, or at least it seemed that way.

I'm very excited for this upcoming season. Last season didn't excite me, and in fact, if you go back and read some of my posts, you'll see I was pretty negative about our team, and most of it was because of BA. I absolutely couldn't stand the way he called the game.

I would laugh so hard if we came out in the bubble screen formation and then audible to Rainey and rush right up the middle and take it to the house. I'm such a vindictive jerk.

Wow I cannot believe the support for an offensive coordinator that has not won a SB.. Not defending BA but you know what..

Do not believe for a second this will make an absolute and definitive mark for the Steelers. It's a beginning with an huge upside

Takes a lot more than good playcalling to win a SB. The same could have been said of Cowher until near the end of his career. Winning a SB is a team achievement.

And also for the record we won IN SPITE of BA in the minds of most people on this board. Also we LOST a Super Bowl with BA as well which might not have happened if he'd RAN the ball more and we think Haley is more committed to doing that and that is why we are so pumped to have him. I understand that you are not defending BA but I just thought this would clear things up more from the perspective of those who are glad to have Haley.

People, Ba did not understand the run game and the benefits it has.(Nether does Ben
wants to throw for 4000/get another 100 mil contract.)
The Steelers better be run heavy the first 4 weeks until these so called OL get on
the same page or we will get Ben killed. Kugler better get these guys ass's in gear quickly.
Lets go back to physical football, what the PGH Steelers are known for.

Nobody here is supporting BA. The BA apologists seem to have crawled back in their holes. Haley does have a lot to prove though and the fans and team have very high expectations. I hope he can deliver.

Did Marino? Does Peyton? What QB doesn't believe in their skills and want to throw the ball?

marino used the short passing game as opposed to ben. marino didn't want home run balls all the time. duper and clayton made dano look very good, with short passes that turned into long gains. ben has those type of wr's right now in brown and sanders and rainey, i hope he uses them as such.

I'm not sure I ever saw BA apologists here. He was hard to apologise for. I did see a fair few folks pointing out that those blaming all the Steeler's ills, world poverty and WW2 were the fault of one man could sometimes come across as slightly straw man arguments. Likewise those crowning Haley before there has been any delivery. No harm in optimism, mind.

For the record I NEVER blamed Arians for WW2! All I said was that "MAYBE" he caused it! lol. However if he had stuck around any longer I think he would've for sure caused WW3.

I don't think he has anything to prove, he had the #1 offense in Arizona (their SB run) and he brought KC back from the dead ( key injuries killed that team = him getting fired) He belongs in Pittsburgh. It's not like he has big shoes to fill lol BA was a moron, the defense saved his dumb a.ss on many occasions
