We all know about Moore and BA, but A.Q. Shipley is the Colts' #2 center according to their depth chart, and I am really excited to see him going against Ta'amu. I'd love to see Steve McLendon get some reps against him too.

Also on the Colts' depth chart is: Greg Lloyd, Jr., listed as the #2 RILB, and Mario Harvey, one spot behind Lloyd as #3 RILB. Looking forward to seeing them as well. Oh, and the man that a way-too-big fraction of our fan base was hoping we would draft: Coby Fleener, the starting tight end.

Sounds like you have a Colts crush, jk...It would be nice to see Ta'amu show a few things, but lets be honest, if it happens against a guy not good enough to make it on our O-line, what does that really say about Ta'amu? The bigger fear is that against that competition, he doesn't make a play.

BTW, for the PSU fans attracted by the A.Q. Shipley name drop, vote here : http://promo.espn.go.com/espn/contests/clc/2012/ PSU is in first and should stay there!

Shipley's arms are too short to be a Center in the NFL.

Shipley's a practice squad journeyman, so there's no question it won't mean that much if we do well against him. But then again, the dude still has 3 years of practicing against NFL level competition. Ta'amu has like 3 weeks. So I won't exactly be devastated if we don't dominate like I want us to.

Mostly I'm just curious. McLendon and Ta'amu are both not only strong, but tall and with a longer reach than Shipley. I just can't wait to see what happens.

I was really worried about McClendon taking over for Hampton, but after the Eagles game ( i KNOW it`s only pre-season), I`m not NEARLY as worried.
And if we got a gem for the future, in `Moo, BONUS!
Yeah, I will be paying attention to the rookie NT, against the Colts. (and the 2 pre-season games after that).

I'm excited to see Ta'amu period. I like this kid alot and am hoping for big things from him. Of course, I'm a big fan of Heyward, too, and haven't heard much about him so far. Please, don't make me chalk these guys in the same category as Sweed, I would have to go to therapy for a year if that is the case. I'm already keeping an afternoon or two a week open in case Mendy doesn't make it back and be the RB I think he can be. I really need to stop getting so excited about our rookies! (yes I know Mendy is not a rookie but I did get excited about him as a rookie and he isn't gone yet)

I think most of us are very excited about our rookies because we got quality very deep in the draft and they plugged holes or added depth to previously very thin positions. Now hopefully they keep progressing and grow up quickly.

Quality deep in the draft and in all the right places. Middle round draft choices with that high risk / high reward type of talent. "Rainey, Spence" But I think Ta'amu might be the best value out of this draft. I wanted them to pick him up at the spot they drafted Adams and was thrilled to see them pick him up later. Loved the draft this year and have many of the same hopes for the rookies that Jim is struggling with.

Ok, I've got it. Move Mclendon over to DE when Ta'amu is ready to take over the NT position. We'd have Mclendon, Ta'amu, and Keisel as our front 3. Virtually unstoppable.

We could have run a 4-3 basically at any point, like... ever. Pick a year and we could have done it. We always have the versitility.

This might be the 1st time in NFL history that O linemen and running backs, going up the middle, stop mid play and say..."Ummm, no thanks!"

It would be the end of the running game, as we know it. Except for us of course, who wouldn't have to face it.

Then the team goes hurry up and wears them out.

Good goal line, but who lines up where? The more athletic two on the outside...

How about on O at the goalline we use:

Adams, Colon, Pouncey, DeCastro, Gilbert -- Miller

    -------------------- Ben------------------------

    ------ Hampton, Ta'amu, McClendon ------

    ------------------- Batch ---------------------

Wow! That would actually be pretty scary/good...
I`m thinking it might be an illegal formation... Something about how many players have to be on the line of scrimmage.
I don`t know that I`ve ever seen 3 ppl in a line, behind the qb, with a 4th, behind them.
If it is legal, though, it is very creative, and has a LOT of potential from the goalline!
Just goes to show how creative an OC, could be, other than just using the traditional formations and plays, that have been used by everyone for years...
I think it was Mularkey, that used more "gadget plays", than most of our other recent OC`s... I kinda like it once in a while. Not all game long but, maybe 3 or 4 times a game, why not throw in some crazy play, that no defense has ever seen before?
Or at least once or twice a game.
