I refuse to blame officials even though the PI call on Haden was terrible. Worst call against us all year. Steelers were still in line to win.

    You can’t have 3 turnovers.
Ridley fumble, Nix fake punt, and juju fumble. It’s hard to beat a bad team with a 3-1 turnover ratio, let alone the nfl best record team at home.
Blame the players on that. Juju I can’t take too much out on, if it wasn’t for him who knows where we be.
Ridley is inexcusable, he’s lucky to still be in the NFL, now you see why the Pats shipped him off BB doesn’t stand for fumbles.

This game was a combo of poor calls, bad coaching decisions, bad defensive schemes in times of need a stop 3rd and 20? And they let them get a 1st?

It’s on a lot of things.

If anyone puts JuJu, you need to be thrown off this board. I'd say Tomlin... though the Ridley fumble was a fake call. Dude DID NOT fumble.

I went Ridley, even though I 1) didn't think he should be in a high leverage play like that and 2) thought they should have switched to a pass with the D the Saints were in.

Just tired of blaming Tomlin for everything

I'm not blaming JuJu for the loss, but why does he get a pass on the fumble, When no one else would on the team. If that had been Ben that fumbled thats all you would hear abt till the start of next season.........No JuJu didnt cost us the game, but it was poorly timed fumble

I agree and I wasn't going to put the officials on here but I think it is legit. I also wasn't going to put Juju on cause I feel the same way however it should be an option. I feel bad for Juju but if that was almost any other player he would be getting tore up.

Because he had 1,389 yards and ONE fumble all season. He's also not the main reason we lost the game, imo.

Hate to bust your bubble but the ball WAS coming out. #29 Punched it out before his knee hit the ground. A combo of angles clearly showed it. It was a fumble but more than anything a stupid idiotic decision by Tomlin to put him in that situation. Samuels was dictating and then for some bone headed reason they go to the cold hand.

I'm blaming the refs for this loss and people can harp on me all they want for that but the 4th and 2 call was not PI and the delayed flags showed me they had a script to follow. I could have picked Tomlin for the dumb fake punt try but I did not pick him because I actually saw this team playing their hearts out yesterday.

ANYONE who hangs this loss on JUJU is completely clueless and should find another sport to watch. I really feel bad for him and he has nothing to be ashamed of. He and AB had monster games and IF we make the playoffs other teams will have trouble stopping this offense should Ben continue to ball like that.

This is from SI.com Monday Morning QB, the first 2 paragraphs are spot on. This team is convinced it's a very good team, it talks like one, it's struts like one, it correograhphs its celebrations like one, it looks down on its opposition like one. Has us all convinced that's it's one. Only one problem, it comes up just short, a lot

    https://www.si.com/nfl/2018/12/23/steelers-saints-mike-tomlin-nfl-playoffs

Roosevelt Nix was a full yard short of converting the fourth down on a fake punt Sunday night in the Superdome, but he and his teammates didn’t bother to confirm the final spot. He broke into a celebration, high-stepping for 10 yards, going down to one knee and pointing the ball to signal first down along with teammates Cameron Sutton and Jordan Dangerfield. They continued to celebrate the non-conversion as the Saints special-teamers jogged off the field knowing they had gotten the stop.

It perfectly encapsulated the Steelers’ 2018 season. An average team posing as a good one, coming up just short.

“By no means did he lose that game for us. I know he’s going to be hard on himself. I told him I’ve been there. I’ve thrown picks in games. The interception I threw in Denver...It stinks. You’ve got to chew it and you’ve got to eat it." -- Ben on JuJu.

The Ridley fumble was the pebble that started everything.

They probably get 3, if not 7 on that drive and take more time off the clock.

Saints probably start further back on the next drive and they play much different if they're down 11 (or 7) instead of 4. Even if it's 31-24 and the Saints tie it, the Steelers don't fake the punt on the next drive.

    The Ridley fumble killed everything.

This says it all really. The team is a reflection of its “leader”. That leader is arrogant when he shouldn’t be. He makes a lot of bad decisions and doesn’t put his team in the best position to win. His act is played out and old. Hell yeah I voted Coach Cliche.

Ridley absolutely fumbled. They froze the replay and the ball was out and his knee wasn’t close to being down.
It’s hard to Respect your posts when it’s obvious you blame Tomlin for everything.

    Keith Butler.

Realistically, Keith is greatly responsbile for the conclusion of the story of the 2018 Pittsburgh Steelers overall. Here are some good terms on how to describe this season for him and the team as a whole:

    • Ineptitude
    • Apathy
    • Disinterest
    • Dysfunction
    • Self-Importance

Plenty of others to choose from. However, these describe Keith and the 2018 Steelers team as a whole.

This game: the officiating. Even with everything that went wrong, we got the 4th and 2 stop. That was NOT DPI.

However, I believe that the reason we were in a situation where that killed our season is that we had numerous failures during the season, especially the losses to LA and Oakland after the wake up loss to Denver. The responsibility for that lands at the feet of the head coach.

I'm going before the Ridley fumble.... we were unstoppable in the 3rd quarter with our 5 wide sets.... why the heck did we start running the ball more in the 4th with our scrub RB's..... halftime adjustments seemed to have been working, so why get cute and mix in a Ridley run? I certainly don't blame Tomlin for going for the fake punt on 4th down. Maybe a different play, but the reasoning was solid.

Definitely the officials. Both Haden PI's were questionable, and the illegal contact rather than PI at the end was laughable.

The Steelers are a slightly above average football team and they only rate that high because of their exceptional offense. Their defensive drafting and coaching are terrible and have been for years. These are the two biggest things I have against Tomlin, who is suppose to have a defensive background. This defense is bereft of quality play makers and the coaching and teaching that could help them is nowhere to be seen.

The funniest thing is after all this.... the patriots are sitting comfy with their bye after their season “was over”. Lmao we finally beat them and it meant nothing haha
