Max was removed from the PUP list today. He won't be allowed to practice for three days under the new CBA, and won't be playing against the Colts this weekend. I'm a little surprised at how quickly he's coming off. Read more~

Boo-yah. That's great news. Let the competition for a critical position between two hobbled, limping men begin!

Who wears the best knee brace will go a long way. Style points are heavily weighted.

Good news. Max will definitely be our starter at LT unless he gets hurt again.

Glad to have him back! Let the battle begin for the left tackle position!

ugh... I hope these doctors don't rush things for the teams need. I would hate for this big 6'8'' mountain of a man practicing on a knee that isn't 100%. We need this galute when it really counts.

I agree. I hope the doctor's know what they are doing. I think if Adams wasn't hurt and performed "ok" the other day, they would have kept him on the PUP a little while longer.

Come on guys I doubt a team in the NFL is that stupid to rush a guy back when there's still a month until the season starts. If we opened this Sunday maybe, but not in mid-august.

I have had 4 ACL tears and trust me when I say that the doctors are not going to rush things. The most important aspect of this injury is solid stability, and for Max to come back to soon would mean certain disaster. Max himself knows where he is at, and as an athlete you have that keen mind sense to know if its too soon. I trust 100% that the doctors and Max are certain he is ready to return!

See this is the type of stuff that pisses me off about the Steelers They should be concentrating on getting Adams healthy and ready instead of rushing Starks off the PUP. I was never in favor of resigning Starks anyway because he is very injury prone. He has been hurt the last two seasons plus he is old and over weight even though he looks like he is in better shape. He did that so that he could get resigned. If he is not going to play against the Colts, then why bring him off the PUP? Doesn't make sense to me. I'm just not happy at all about the Max Starks thing.

Dog, everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I`m glad he`s back!
He brought a lot of stability to our line, when we brought him back last year, and more importantly, Ben seems to trust him.
That matters more than anything to me, since he is protecting Ben`s blindside!!!

So because they took Starks off the PUP...they cant concentrate on getting Adams healthy? That makes no sense and is just a dumb statement...they have enough trainers/etc to work with both guys and get them both 100%. And why bring him off the PUP? Geee I don't know...maybe so he can officially practice with the team instead of running/etc on the sidelines and maybe earn the money they are paying him. Peoples hate for players just make them say the dumbest things.

Dude, he hasn't practiced the new offense yet, we aren't even close to solid with our likely rookie starter who is INJURED, and the players need time to gel. Max hasn't played next to either of the possible LG's who will start next to him. They need him and Adams out there ASAP.

Oh so I say the dumbest things! Ok, I'll say it again because I'm entitled to my opinion. I don't care what you think, that is how I feel. I'mm sticking to my original quote, Starks is old, and injury prone. The guy has been hurt the last two years and has not made it through the year. I'm with the youth movement right now. Besides, Starks was only average as far as I'm concerned. Lets just see how it plays out!

I'm with edog. By letting Starks play/practice and by paying any attention to him at all, they are spending all of their magical left tackle pixie dust in one place. They need to save it for the youth movement, Adams! Seriously, is that the point? That Adams' immune system runs on attention and ego, and bringing in a safety net for him will somehow slow down his health and development? And we should keep Starks off the field so that more of us can stare at Adams' knee, and it will heal faster? He's not Tinkerbell.

It will be an open competition, and if Starks outplays Adams, how could you possibly be upset with them putting the best player on the field? If Adams outplays Starks, how could you possibly be upset with an experienced swing OT like Starks? Because he's "old and injury prone?" Well considering he was in the same draft class as Ben I'd say he's not too old to play by a long shot, and I think he's had a whopping one major injury in his career. Yes, he's coming off of it now, and yes, he was overweight at the start of 2011, but he's clearly not overweight now, and I don't think he can put so much weight that he'll be out of shape once the season starts, especially if he's playing. And unless you don't trust our training staff, they'll let him play only once his knee is ready for it. I imagine they'll be extra careful since Adams is also injured. Anyway, before we had Starks, we desperately needed another tackle. Our backup swing guy was Jon Scott, and he was not only good enough, he was also cut. After him it was Essex and Beachum, who are really, really, REALLY not good enough. Jolly? Other guys I can't even remember right now? Would you prefer to shift Gilbert to LT and put Foster at RT like we're doing now? You want that to be our plan B instead of plan D?

I like Max Starks, and believe he has a place on this team,BUT
he also will have trouble with the speed rushers that Gilbert/Adams have.
It all goes back to player evaluation. KUGLER NEEDS TO GET THESE TWO
READY TO PLAY IN THE NFL. HIS JOB MAY BE ON THE LINE IF HE CAN'T?

word is they had no choice but to take max off the PUP. he had specific orders while working with the guys on the PUP practice group. yet he gave up 3 sacks.

they were all to casey. 3 sacks of doughnuts.
