It seems to me that if both Indy and Tenn win this weekend, the only path for us to the playoffs is to win the division.

Edit: Of course not considering any tie game among remaining contenders for remainder of season.

Not true. Steelers just need to win 1 out of their last 2 games to guarantee getting in and that could be WC if Ravens win out. Only way we can lose out and get in is if Indy or Tenn losses out. But one of them could lose this week then win next week in their match up and they both get in.

A wildcard would mean playing the Pats in NE. No thank you.

No. The only way the Steelers could get a wild card is if the colts and titans both lose which is unlikely especially the colts. The steelers cant afford to lose any games. We would end 9-6-1. 10-6 is a greater win percentage than 9-6-1.

They both can't go 10-6 if they play each other

That's why I said if they both lose this week. If both win this week one of them will end up 10-6 when they play eachother week 17.

Screw these scenarios win the next two, beat the best team in the NFC (as far as record) in their place.

There is only one way to get that 3 game losing streak stink off, win these final 3 games. 1 down 2 to go.

If your going to be in the playoffs you got to prove you can beat playoff caliber teams. We play one of the best ones this week.

Not many so called experts think we have a snow ball's chance in H E double hockey sticks, to beat the Saints.

Go prove that we can Steelers.

Huh? They are both 8-6. They could both be 9-6 when they meet.

Exactly. If they are both 9-6 someone will come out of this game 9-7 and the other would come out 10-6.

Look, let me explain it to you. Steelers only need to win one game to get in for sure and that could be division or WC. WC scenario would involve Ravens winning out. Steelers losing to the Saints and beating the Bengals. That would make us 9-6. If both the Titans and Colts win this week, one of them has to lose next week which makes one of them 9-7. 9-6 gets in over 9-7. And before you pull out some crazy scenario where they tie on purpose. We would have the same records and surprisingly have a better conference record than the Titans.

No error, I'm outlining the unlikely scenario where Indy and TN tie. In that case, Pit, Indy and TN would all be 9-6-1, and the tie breakers would be invoked. In that case, Pit edges Indy on xo min opponents.

    that's not right.

steelers are 8-5-1 and if indy/titans win out they will be 10-6. If we lose one we would finish 9-6-1

They play each other. One of them is going to be 9-7. They can't both be 10-6. What is so hard to understand? Are you guys slow slow?

you are off base here lol. for our wildcard chances we would need indy/titans to both lose 1 game each if we were to lose to saints and baltimore wins out.

    10-6 >9-6-1

The Steelers are NOT guaranteed to get in the playoffs with only one win.

Right now, Pit is 8-5-1, Balt TN and Indy are 8-6. KC or LAC have locked up one of the Wild Cards.

In your scenario, where Pit wins one game they'll finish 9-6-1
If Balt wins out, beating LAC and Cle , they're 10-6, and take the division.

If either Indy or TN win their last 2, and they play each other in Week 17, they'll be 10-6 and will take the last WC.
If Indy beats NYG and TN beats Was, this week, both will be 9-6. And barring a tie the last week end, one will be 10-6 and will have a better record than 9-6-1 Pittsburgh.

yeah my bad on that one lol.

i meant indy/titans will need to both be 9-7 if we want the wildcard at 9-6-1(losing to saints)

For me it is all about the Charger game. IMO if Ravens win that game come Sunday night we are going to be in second place. If Ravens beat the Chargers in "San Angeles" they will beat the Browns at home. Also IMO we will beat the Bengals at home for sure.

Like I said I'm a true believer this season hinges on Saturday night and although I am not a fan of night games especially when it's not the Steelers I'll be watching this one all the way and cheering for the Chargers as if they had black and gold on.
