That may be true, but there is other evidence regarding his ability. The guy's other meaningful track record was in college. That can and should be taken into consideration as well.

Time will tell but trying to claim victory after Sunday and his limited time under center up to this point is grasping at straws.

Not really. The NFL is pretty much about the measurables. Meaning physical talent. They care much more about that than what you did in college. They'll make you great is the thinking. Plus the NFL has no room for error. The margin of being great or average in the NFL is tiny.

Jay Barker was 35-2-1 for the Crimson Tide in the early 90's. He was a winner.

He was given zero chance by several teams in the NFL. He didn't have the NFL arm.

I use him as example because he just won....and winning is the ultimate goal when it's a profession.

But the NFL is just a completley different animal.

Hence why you see players in the NFL from all over the college landscape. Look at the Steelers roster. Big successful programs to where the hell is that school located....

If you have the god given ability they'll find you.

It really isn't. Dobbs played badly. The coaches didn't even trust him with the full playbook. It cost them a game. It's what I was concerned about when they cut Jones, that Roethlisberger would miss time and it would cost them a game or more.

Physical tools are a huge part of it, but the guy also has to be able to play in the games. You have to see how a quarterback responds to meaningful game situations. The college resume is a big part of that.

The offense was a complete disaster against a horrible defense while Roethlisberger was out because they didn't have a competent backup. Jones had proven he was a competent backup.

Even Fittipaldo said the Steelers weren't operating on all cylinders with Ben in the first half.

You're drawing conclusions from a whole lot of speculation.

Its another reach to assume he could have moved the offense with no running game that needed its future HOF QB to move. Most of Jones success came against Cleveland. He had a nice relief appearance in the Arizona game. PPF graded his 2017 season 49.4.
