You may see a fullback and things like that but that no big change, it's just an extra guy in the backfield??? Really BB?

On fans who think Mike Wallace is not a big deal to the Steelers offense:

“They’re crazy. No offense, but they’re crazy. I can’t say enough how good of a teammate he is. And that’s the most important thing when you have as many young guys as we have on our team. And Mike’s a little older and has been doing it for several years. Everyone talks about how great Antonio Brown is — and he is — but the reason Antonio is going to get open — not the only reason — but one of the reasons Antonio is going to get open is because Mike is stretching the field. Any time that Mike is on the field, he commands two guys eyes, whether it’s the cornerback and the safety, but somebody’s always going to be keeping an eye on him. Mike is going to open up the field for Antonio, Emmanuel, Jerricho, Heath Miller, our backs, and that’s just the way it goes. And Mike gets frustrated sometimes when he’s not getting 100 yards a game, but I tell him that’s the ultimate compliment — you’re being double and triple teamed because they’re scared of you. So that’s what Mike brings to this team and that’s why we want and will be excited when he gets back here.”

There it is. For those who think Wallace is just a soft hearted one trick pony. Of course we'll probably get the typical "Ben should just shut up" comments

We're definitely a better team with him on the field, just hope that Ben is confident when he say's he will be here and not wishful thinking.

Uh oh, Ben offered some of his insights, here comes the onslaught of critiques. You know, they all begin with
    "I like Ben" BUT

'I wish he would keep his mouth shut.' (Stern)
'he has a lot to learn about handling the media.' (sincere)
'why did he say that?' (quizzical)
'did he have to say....?' (Frustrated)
'I just feel sometimes he's, well, to honest for his own good' (confused)
'I just feel sometimes, well, he's not being completely honest' (suspicious)
'we all know, he can be a bit of a drama queen at times' (delusional)
'from his prior history Ben just needs to take care of Ben' (still angry)

just to name a few. These are covered guys so move onto some new ones. (exhausted)

ben was protecting his teammate............ he's not going to alienate his #1 receiver.
bottom line though is this............. it doesn't matter how much work he's doing on his own.............. there is a new offense being installed and he's missing out on all the nuances of it.......... not to mention the whole communication piece on the field. no matter how in shape he is in physically, the mental aspect just won't be there until he gets into camp and starts working with the rest of the team.

So what was incorrect about what blackandgoldpatrol posted? And what exactly would you say is positive about the Wallace situation?

How about this: Wallace is positively acting like a selfish primadonna and is positively doing himself and the team no favors at this point with his ridiculous holdout.

I never said anything was incorrect about his post knox, so not sure why you're asking me that

And I wouldn't say much is positive about the Wallace situation, but the article posted had Ben discussing the situation and Ben had some positive things to say about Wallace. There's been a TON of negative threads and posts about the Wallace situation on here and I myself have made several of them. It was just somewhat refreshing to hear/read some positive comments for a change about what has turned into an ugly situation. I agree completely that Wallace has botched this up and made a mess of things. I also felt like this was a thread that possibly had a somewhat positive spin on the situation as were most posts up to that point.

But tbh I was mainly busting his chops a bit. No harm intended

To play devil's advocate for a moment...we saw first hand last night how a simple preseason game can end someone's season. I'd imagine that David Johnson wishes he were in Mike Wallace's shoes right about now.

I agree with you. I didn't mean to imply that you said his post was incorrect. But rather that it seemed to be accurate, from my standpoint. Honestly, I wasn't trying to be confrontational... honest... you believe me right? :hmm:

Here's an interesting article on Wallace. It's nice to see someone with inside knowledge refuting the 'Fitzgerald money' and 'turned down 50 for 5yrs' claims that have no real source.

I don't buy all that TTF, I can believe that he didn't demand a 100 million dollar contract but not the 50 million one, why wouldn't he, it's his value.

Guaranteed money. Though, one can only speculate on the details of that offer because no one knows anything about it or who the magical 'source' was.

To also play devils advocate, I do not care about individual players bank accounts. I have only one concern, that the Steelers win. How much players make throughout their career is not a concern of mine. If Mike Wallace can help the Steelers win, then I want his ass in camp, I don't care how much he's made or how big of an injury risk it is to play in pre-season without a big contract.

While I can understand his position, I'm going to be heartless for a minute and say I don't care if he suffers a career ending injury before he makes $80 million, I only care that it negatively affects the Steelers. I would never hope for an injury of course, but if it happens, then my only concern will be that it hurts the Steelers, not that he never got a chance to get a fat contract.

Ranting was a little strong, I guess. I should probably mention that I agree with your post mostly...
