Given the Steelers defensive backfields ineptitude to generate impact plays and inability to create turnovers, which one would be most beneficial to the team right now?

Please state your reasons why as it always does assist me.

Corner. Take the opponents best WR out of the game. If they have a stud TE that is killing you, you can always double off with a safety and a LB, but shut down corners are gold.

Elite FS can cover up for a lot of CB woes. Just look at the last 2 weeks for example. The TD to Keenan Allen that SD blew up Haden and the long pass by Carr that set up the winning TD. Gve me a Ed Reed on my defense any day.

You can win championships with good but not great corners. You MUST have a safety. They are called that for a reason.

A great safety can make a good defense great. A corner can take away a wr but you know where he is going to be. A safety can destroy a gameplan

I would take just a competent cb or safety at this point

safety, without question. Haden has been pretty solid all season, but we continuously give up detrimental plays because our safeties are usually out of position.

Draft a safety. How many great corners has Colbert drafted? lol draft linebackers receivers and trade for corners

So you said it was a guaranteed bust because Peterson was never available.

I hate to say it, but I think it has to be a safety. Davis showed some signs of improvement earlier in the season, but he has been a big part of the collapse over the last three weeks, with his hit on Haden being the lowlight.

Davis is an average player who just mans the position. Need a stud free safety next to Edmonds. I would hope they would explore the free agent market for a corner not a last pick of the litter. Time to spend a bit for a corner (no draft success) and keep Haden.

Free safety. An elite free safety can erase and makeup for bad cornerback play. Like a ronnie Lott, ed Reed, rod woodson, earl thomas etc..

we have the worst safeties in the league by far. Burnett is freaking terrible along with edmunds. Davis is decent but stupid

Pass rushers cover up an inadequate secondary.

I’m drafting an elite edge rusher or another OLB and a DT with elite pass rushing abilities.

I’m putting 4 pass rushers on the field.
Bud has to go. Heyward and Tuitt are good but we forget they were drafted to be 3-4 defensive ends. In the mold of Brett Kreisler and Aaron Smith.

I would be slowly phasing them out. Sorry but the league has changed.

they go hand in hand. our pass rush can hit home sometimes in 2 seconds only for there to be an open guy, and that's rushing 4. We need a secondary that can cover

    FS all the way.

Rules have marginalized the CB position. Lock down corners are few and far between. I would value a ball hawking CB more so than a lock down one.

A great FS can direct and command the defense. Also capable of producing alot of turnovers.

That’s true and definitely don’t disagree. But if I had one area or the other I’m going with pass rushers.

    CB

It’s harder to find a good CB than a safety. Keep in mind, when a good CB gets older and slower, they tend to move to safety.

A good pass rush can make average DBs look good.
