I dont give a rats ass what other franchises would be happy with .Isaid the day Tomlin was hired he should not have been.. Tomlin needs to be fired now, tonight b4 he gets to the plane , enough is enough !!

 

I believe the Raiders had an incomplete pass which stopped the clock. Had he taken the timeout, they likely run the next down and it's the same scenario with time on 4th down.

 

Mike Vrabel didn't want him on his staff. What does that tell you?

 

Well, that won't happen, so I guess you'll be disappointed twice today then.

 

Right but why would anyone think this defense would maintain a four-point lead?

 

And? Unless you play on carpet, football fields get chewed up. Now, when do you suppose the Steelers figured out the field as chewed up? Or did they? They are called cleats. You change them due to field conditions on grass.

It is pretty simple. Not the first game in Oakland. Half of the field used to be a baseball field and dirt. You know the field before you take off. You know the field in warm ups. The field is not an excuse unless you had a major downpour during the game.

The fact remains that Tomlin should have taken a TO before the kick to get things in order. Boz and the rest of the players should have changed shoes BEFORE the game. Fact, apparently they did not and in the end it cost them a possible win.

So, again, pissed poor management to adjust to field conditions. With a TO, Boz could have checked the plant area and possibly moved the spot a bit if he saw the turf was not good right there. They did not and now they go home.

Ohh, well. I am not a ticket holder and they do not pay me. I will get up tomorrow and go about my day. Life goes on, but please every week the Steelers loose, it is always blamed on some factor outside of the Steelers control. The refs, the field, night games, day games, etc. etc. Instead they should be asking themselves why they even needed a FG to tie to the worst team in the league.

Again, the Raider had no slips or falls on their winning TD so the field was not a factor for them.

The one bad thing about losing to the Raiders is, their fanbase and all associated with that team are alot to be undesired and classless!!!

I've been a Steelrs fan since 1973. What's so sad about this year's team is that they are losing games that they shouldn't. It's been a long time that I've seen their defesne thus bad. They are now trying to hang onto first place in the division, but with the Saints and Patriots left, we will probably not make the playoffs. Again, I have never seen the defense this bad, it's as if they can't stop anyone. The offense does their part for the most part, they score points, but it's never good if we expect the defens to sto anyone. Losing to the Raiders, really? I know they give us a hard time, but this year, really? I think it's safe to say that Big Ben will not make it to the playoffs in his last year; no thanks to the defense. Just sad.

 

I guess you need to look at it from a different perspective. The defense was playing well enough to hold them to 10 points until the last half of the 4th quarter, so I can see why there was no rush to get Ben back out there to risk further injury.

 

No disrespect intended for you, but I am tired of hearing this. I'm tired of local media saying it too. There are not a whole of teams that have as consistent of expectations as we do. Put Tomlin on almost any other team and he wouldn't have lasted 5 years. Tomlin is hands down the most overrated coach in the NFL. It's been 12 years and the same crap keeps happening. Same unmotivated players. Same poor in-game coaching. Same poor personnel choices. Same mystifying losses. 12 dang years. He took a great team and made it average. This is not going to get better; it is only going to keep getting worse.

 

And I will say, no disrespect to you, we are all disappointed when the Steelers do not win. Do we want to win a superbowl every year? Yes, absolutely. But I'll take Tomlin's record over the last 5 years (making the playoffs) over teams who look for a new coach every other year.

 

Its not an argument, it is a fact. Seriously, Tomlin can't make the plays on the field, the players have to. These guys are professionals.

 

Stan Savaran and Charlie Batch hypothesized if they were waiting for the pain medication to take effect before Ben went back in. Interesting thought, this loss is not on the offense, but defense and special teams. Defense gave up two 70 plus touchdown drives in the 4th quarter and special teams left 6 points on the field.

 

That's fair. I just have a sinking feeling that these playoff appearances under Tomlin are just about done. He's the very definition of riding on others coat tails.

 

Me too, I went through the Noll and Cowher years too. We have ups and downs, that's going to happen. We should have signed Bell and need to address things on the defense.

 

Charlie and Stan are probably right. And yes, this loss is on special teams and defense. Boz makes the field goal he missed in the first half, then the game goes into OT after the Steelers last drive. This defense just doesn't have enough talent, and it is not coached well enough to help offset it.

 

As opposed to our fanbase that headbutts each other.

 

And choking pregnant women...
