After signing that big contract last season LB coach Keith Butler called him out and said he needs to come into camp in better shape and not weighing 290 lbs, which probably is why he had issues with his hamstring. Woodley said he changed his offseason training coming into this season but now he has missed some camp with groin problems.

His groin problems are probably due to the fact that players hate camp.

you have to remember this is camp and means nothing right now. we are not putting in a completely different defense, though some of the names have changed. it may be tweeked a little but woodley won't be behind by sitting out a couple. the team plays every twinge as a potential problem in the vets this time of year and aire on the side of caution. MT has been giving these guys days off the whole time. he wants them fresh this year. they are still the ones that will make the most difference this season, even though we have some exciting young talent about to take the field. we will win with our proven stars in the long run. these guys are aging and need handled a little different. i think that's what most of these camp injuries are mostly about. they are still just getting in football shape right now.

the only thing that makes me crazy is worilds surgery. did this just happen to that wrist before the surgery? was this something from before camp? if it is the latter , why wasen't this done in the off-season? anyone?

I have been saying this for years. So much talent, so little preperation
for his trade. Its a shame. I saw #92 in street clothes Friday night he looked about
mid season form, absolutley ripped, then I looked at Lamaar?

I have been wondering about this for a while now too. Why had this surgery not been done long ago so as to allow him to be healed and ready for camp? I thought I had read it was a lingering injury from last year...could be wrong about that. I assume there is more to it and reasoning for the timing, but its really disappointing to say the least.

I was there too and didnt see anything wrong with Woodley....he's always been a bigger LB...i mean he was a DE in college he's like 6'2 265-270 on average (Worilds is big too in the 260 range). Harrison is the smaller more leaner type of LB at 6' and like 235-245 (Chris Carter is around this size also). It's not really fair to either one be comparing them against each other when they are 2 different players/body types/etc.

woodley is better around that size 265-270. he's quicker. he went up in weight before and had a mediocre year(at least by his standards) and came back the next year saying he felt better because he dropped some of that weight and he had a monster year. he was even making more plays in the pass defense game. did i read he's 290? if so thats to much for him. he doesn't look that big to me. we can't afford him sitting that's for sure.

No, you didn't. It implied that he has been 290 at some point in the past. I think it said he's in shape right now.
