First time going to Heinz, 12/2/18 @ 8:20pm, with wife and three kids 15, 13, and 11. Looks like all parking near stadium is pre-sold and is currently sold out. What do you recommend? Should we drive and try to get closer? Park and walk? Staying at a hotel near Pitt. My only other experiences were an AFC championship game at Three Rivers '95 and the good old Grateful Dead in '95.

Was at that same GD show. Awesome show where it rained like all get out beginning of the 2nd set. Was on the floor for the Beatles Rain song and it down poured.

Have fun at the game. You might want to just take the bus over as they have a very good transit system there. Bring us home a win!

Great show! I was on the floor too, marveling at how tall 3 rivers stadium looked from that point of view.
I think it went: the rain song, box of rain, samba in the rain, looks like rain.

It rained so hard that during G-L-O-R-I-A everyone was completely soaked and loving every minute of it. One of the best of the 40+ dead shows that I've been to but the recordings all came out horrible (Probably due to the heavy rains).

Fun Times! I still have my ticket stub as well.

If you get there early enough, there are a couple of garages on East General Robinson Dr just past PNC Park. E Gen Robinson is a straight shot into the stadium. Expect $40ish to park and a 10 minute walk. Bars/restaurants are 1 block over toward the river on North Shore Drive.

You could also park downtown at a number of garages on Liberty or Penn and hop on The T (the subway) at either Gateway Station or Wood St depending on where you park. Take the subway all the way to the end (Allegheny Station) and you will be at the stadium, but on the wrong side of where most of the bars/restaurants are. Prepare to walk 10ish minutes around North Shore Drive to get to them. The T is free within the city. Just hop on.

There are also a couple of garages on Ft Duquesne Blvd. Park there and walk over the Roberto Clemente Bridge to East General Robinson, then to the stadium. Probably a 20 minute walk to stadium.

It probably wasn't the only show we both attended. I had tix for the rest of that tour but there was a riot at Deer Creek, so the 2nd night there was cancelled. Things were coming undone (and JG was very sick), so I packed up my van and headed east. A couple weeks later, it was all over.

Sadly, TRS was the last show I ever saw with Jerry and the Dead.:frown:

Many others off the top of my head. Louisville right before Brent died. Wash DC x3, Phoenix x4, Soldier Field x3, Atlanta x6, Memphis x2, Buckeye Lake, Deer Creek x2, Cleveland x4, Las Vegas x5, Shoreline x2 +JGB >10.

A few others that I can't think of right off hand. Many of my friends went to the Deer Creek fiasco and I didn't have tix cause they were so in demand. They tried to talk me into going anyways but I knew that I wouldn't score one in the lot so I stayed home. Glad I did.
We may have crossed paths somewhere.

Didn't mean to hijack the thread so go Steelers and beat down the Bolts.:sign0020:

$40 to park at Stanwix garage seem about right?

If you are staying in Oakland I would take the bus over, at least to get you closer for a lot cheaper. Pittsburgh has a really good transit system.
