Here is my take on all this, I talked about this in another thread but since there is more talk I will put my 2 cents in. Ben I like the fact that you are trying to be a leader but instead of worrying about that one pass or the 25 targets you have given JW how about worrying about the 2 EASY PASSES YOU MISSED FOR TD'S? Or better yet why are we all worried about our #3-4 WR when our leading target getter is only at a catch rate of 58%? One last thing so many on here are talking how JW should not have dove, did I miss all you all pro WR's playing on Saturday or Sunday? Come on guys you think JW dove just for the looks, he felt he needed to I think he is starting to feel the pressure being surrounded by all these good players. Instead of tearing him down how about trying to build up his confidence, that will help this team a lot than ripping a guy in public.........jmo!

Saying he has to make a play is not tearing him down. Roethlisberger expressed his confidence in Washington in his comments.

Also, he didn't miss two easy passes for touchdowns. He missed on one deep ball that could have potentially been a touchdown (though Smith-Schuster would have had to beat one defender to get to the end zone.) The throw to Washington wasn't perfect, but it was absolutely one that should be caught, probably in stride. The kid made a bad decision to dive. Roethlisberger did make that one bad throw. He made terrible decisions on both interceptions, though the officials missing pass interference had a lot to do with the first one. It is good to point out his mistakes, but do so with accuracy.

Bens a player who has arrived and done many things to help win football games. He's not saying Washington needs to be perfect, he saying he needs to start making plays.

He's a 2nd rd pick, so he has some rope but not much. He has to get going or his career is already in jeopardy.

All I’m saying is if somebody is going to criticize me they better be doing everything right or I’m just gonna be like whatever dude.
If juju made that comment instead of Ben I’d feel better about it. Means a lot more coming from a guy who balled out instead of a guy who made a bunch of mistakes himself.

Unfortunately Ben cost us a chance at winning that game at the end there. And hey those things are gonna happen from time to time. But Ben pretty much needs to shut the **** up and lead by example.

With all that said I love Ben and I’m glad he’s our quarterback and hope he stays for another five years.

Naa, disagree, Ben said what needed to be said. He's one of the leaders of the team.

Theres been times I think Ben shouldn't have said something, don't agree this is one of them. It was pretty harmless actually and could prove to be very helpful.

Totally agree. What's wrong with Ben pulling JW to the side and saying the same thing face to face? Oh I must of missed the part where it's a law where he has the blab to the media. Nothing wrong with the message....lots wrong with the venue.

So you talked to Washington this week? You are in his family? You are his psychologist and know how he internally reacted to what ben said?

Where in my post did I address Washington's reaction to Roethlisberger's comment? I'll give you a hint. I didn't.

I have no feelings towards him. He's nothing to me lol. This all entertainment. All we've been doing as of late in class since the break Is reviewing for finals. Pretty boring so I've spent a lot of time on my phone lately to past that time.

I agree to a certain extent. How many good throws did Ben make???? There not too many QB's in the league that make the throw like he made to juju in the back of the endzone. Ill take that and a few picks over a guys guys dropping balls anyday.

So let me try it in this context. So let’s say you’re late to work tomorrow and your supervisor jumps your ass about it yet he was late to work himself?
I have no problem with the message does the messages through Washington need to step up and play better. I just have a problem with who’s dishing out the message.

To me it's never a good idea to call your teammates out in the media. It's not like Washington has a reputation for doggin' it. In fact his work ethic is listed as one of his strengths. He isn't underperforming due to a lack of effort I'm sure. He's just overwhelmed by the complexity of the game at this level right now. Like I said in another post I'm not quite sure he's being put in the best position to succeed either. I'm also pretty sure that calling him out isn't going to help him because it's not from a lack of effort he's struggling.
Ben is claiming he's earned the right to criticize his teammates and some agree using the logic that he criticizes himself as well. You should criticize yourself when you play poorly but it still doesn't give you the right to do the same to one of your teammates in the public eye. I'm harder on myself than I could ever be to someone else and that's the way you should be.

Ben criticizing himself is not the same. In fact a lot of it is lip service. Often times he does take the blame but often enough as well it's a generic apology that aligns with his passive aggressive tendencies. He is now most recently leaning on his "gunslinger " defense to explain away his sometimes idiotic decision making. There is also plenty of deflection and excuses that sometimes don't make any sense when he does screw up.
I'm not trying to turn this into a bash Ben post. He is a great QB. It's just that his decision making isn't always that great on and off the field.

I agree. Why get on some radio show and call someone out? Also just cause he said some positive things about Washington doesn’t absolve him from calling him out in public.
I’m not totally against calling someone out if they truly deserve it, but I don’t think this is a case for that. Especially when you made more mistakes than the person you’re calling out. JMO

Ok glenn...If your supervisor was working at the company for 20 years and you have been there 20 weeks ,would that make a difference to ya?.....I agree with most that you say ,but this one i gotta go the other way...Ben didnt kill the kid ,he just said what he needs to start being productive..On a side note when your qb drops back over 50 times ,some picks are gonna get thrown.I dont care what name is on the back of his jersey

He didn't miss two easy touchdowns. The receiver was the problem on the second missed connection.
