Grimble was in cecause Vance was hurt...He has shown he can fill in with some nice catches and runs, but this was a game where guys just needed to take what they had and get down.

There was too many weird bounces and crap happening from guys trying to make a play, when it wasn't really needed at the time!

Ball Security and they have at least another 3 field goal chances and probably win this game pulling away!.

I'm fairly certain that was before McDonald got hurt. Grimble gets the occasional snap even when McDonald and James are healthy.

I remember Romo saying Vance had been out with a hip for a bit at that point. Even though he came back in the game.

I thought that was in the second half. Grimble's fumble came very early. If you are right, that is a particularly lousy bit of bad luck. McDonald probably would have tried to run the guy over, too, but I'm betting he would have been more successful.

I think Vance would have been fast enough to get to the goal line before contact was even possible.

Terrible fumble. The play worked beautifully other than Grimble’s ball security.

He's not getting a pass, but some people's view of that particular play was way off.

The Steelers do need to add another running back next season, though I expect Conner to be the starter. They don't have a quality second option and that is a problem.

That was the best throw by a Steelers player in that game.

Tunch shows and explains clearly all the Sundays misfires on Steelers.com I like the (closure) interception where Ben was to hand off to conner and they got into each others way so Ben tossed it off and explained it different. :roflmao:

The interception at the end was all started by a bad snap ( Pouncey should take the heat on that ), this forced the play to be mentally sped up in Ben's mind as he knew had to fake the run and hit AB on the slant. Well the delay at the beginning due to the bad snap threw off the timing of the play and the result was disaster. IMO what should have happened was Ben either needs to keep it himself as a QB keeper and follow Conner into the end zone ( hopefully) or hand it off to Conner, at the very least, throw it away and play for 4th down. What Ben needs to do is to be prepared for any and all scenarios prior to the play taking place. This is accomplished by mental preparation and training yourself to react in adverse situations. The coaches should work on bad play scenarios so that this is not a freak reaction or decision that costs football games but rather planned execution for any and all scenarios.

I would call Grimble stupid instead of selfish. If you can see a hit coming just short of the goal line and can easily avoid it, you HAVE to. Having stupid players on the roster is a formula for failure. Same goes for players who celebrate before they get into the end zone (and sometimes lose the ball). Stay clear of those stupid guys when looking for players.

No doubt, that was a vicious hit. His body trembled a little on the way down.
JC on the other hand was just stupidity for not securing the ball.
One handing a ball while being hit isn't the wisest move.

I didn't notice the bad snap, but I did watch Tunch Ilkin's breakdown of the play. If the timing wasn't screwed up, which led to Roethlisberger and Conner colliding, it is a handoff to Conner and a likely touchdown.

Saw a lot of Conner supporters, myself included, call him out for that fumble.

I find it funny that the guy is posting the type of numbers he has and some fans think we need to find a starter.

I knew right away that the defender didn’t touch the ball. Conner doesn’t carry the ball very securely (as evidenced by his fumbling issues so far this season). I think these fumbles are fixable, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see 2-3 more fumbles from him between now and the Super Bowl

Conner is definitely our starter. He’s shown more than enough for us to not be looking for a starting type of back. His fumbles are definitely concerning however. He seems to have a knack for coughing it up. No reason to give up on a good back for a little fumbling problem though. He needs some advice from Tiki Barber, but he definitely has the goods to be a quality starter in the league.

Pouncey is being given a pass this year IMHO.

That's not his first bad snap in a key situation and he's getting run over a few too many times for his reputation.

If he makes that snap clean, Ben probably hands that ball off and we're talking about going for 2 or for the tie.

Fumbles add about 2 years to my life. In the playoffs it's more like 3 years. I'm too old to deal with it in the SB anymore.

I have to watch that play again. I didn't notice the bad snap.

I'm not sure I see the evidence of Pouncey getting run over. I know it looked like it on the touchdown pass to Smith-Schuster, but if you watch Ilkin's breakdown, he pointed out that Conner tripped Pouncey as he tried to slip through the line.

the real sad thing is. if grimble had the ball in his left hand like even kids are taught. he doesn't fumble no matter what he does

The basic fundamental for a back who is fumbling a lot is the back coach needs to teach him to carry the ball high and tight not dangling it out in one hand, tiki barber had a big fumble problem until coughlin made him carry it high and tight, but the basic flaw on this whole team right now is they are not paying attention to detail and until they fix that problem they will continue to lose games....

Pouncey has always gotten run over too much for his reputation. Don't get me wrong, he is a really good center but he has always struggled with power. I think it is part of the reason we struggle to run when teams expect it.

Conner has Butterfingers, fumbles way too much and can’t catch worth a damn
