A bunch of us are going to training camp Fri night. It's at Latrobe high school correct? And how much does it cost to get in. I think someone said there was a fee for this one. Thanks :)

It's $5 for adults; $2 for students, and for seniors 65 and up.

Gates to the stadium will open at 5 p.m, and scrimmage starts at 7. Have an awesome time and tell us all about it. :-D

Friday Night Camp is the new spinoff of Friday Night Lights is it not?? I'm confused.

I'm going to attempt to make the trip for this one (if all goes as planned). I always liked the Friday Night one...while it is still camp its more for the fans to enjoy (fun drills/etc), all players must sign autographs and so on. So hopefully I will be there to enjoy it!

YES! I got this cleared with my son's mother! We will be driving in from Cleveland, Ohio to come to this practice! Of course - we'll be taking a side trip to Bud Murphy's in Connellsville first for some of their unbelievable pizza!

Look for me. I couldn't find my Steelers t-shirt - so I'll be in a blue and white tie-dye t-shirt with a Steelers cap. I'll be with my son - who will be in a black "Got Rings" t-shirt and cap.

Went to Friday's practice it was great to see, the 4 honored players,
They all received very loud ovations. Peezy's was the loudest. He went up in the stands right below
me to do an interview and he was mobbed for autographs he was lucky the Steelers had personnel
there to clear the way, mobbed. This is just my opinion of what I saw, I am in know way a reporter
or did I see everything that I wanted to see. I would have like to see more action/hitting but
thats the way it goes sometimes. Just a few things I did notice Ben looks to have trimmed down, Mclendon is huge, and looked good Ziggy Hood also looks good physically. Baron Batch looked good to me in the pass protection blocking on LB's. He looked fiesty. Seane Spence looked bigger than I thought he would be, Sly looked good in these drills also. Antonio Brown is the real deal, makes things look easy, disappointed that Manny Sanders was held out. Myron Rolle lit up a receiver when they were practicing WR blocking drills on CB/safety's.
I hope he makes it, I have not seen enough of him to make an opinion of him though.
David Decastro looked good physically but seemed uninterested, they say he is afraid to make mistakes, I say get your ass in gear and start hiiting people.Todd Haley looked comfortable and relaxed as did coach T
the Steeler players signed auto graphs at the start of practice from 6:30 to 7:00 4 to 5 deep all around stadium. I would have to estimate the crowd at 10-15 thousand, I do not know how many the stadium holds but it looked full on both sides and people 3-4 deep lined the perimeter. In conclusion it is a nice gesture by the Steeler organization to have this type of practice for the fans AND for Latrobe Area HIgh School athletic department. It puts alot of coin in their coffers. Can't wait for the season to start,
all in all it was your typical love fest with the greatest team on the planet.

Good experience here too - except for the autograph part. My son is the autograph hound, and he didn't get a single one. We made the mistake of NOT waiting at the fence when we came in - something we'll do next year, but even when he did get to the front of the crowd after waiting for a long time, he was ignored by player after player. Two years ago, he got Ben's autograph on his SBXLIII hat, and even exchanged a few words with him. This year - nothing. He was very discouraged.

I had estimated the crowd at around 20,000. It would be nice to hear official numbers.

The band at the beginning was pretty entertaining - unlike the one at Steeler Fest (outside the stadium).

We're still trying to figure out who #21 is. He was in with 1st and 2nd team DBs - real chummy with Tomlin - but not on the roster - nor in the Media Guide. Anyone?

We were trying to figure out #21 also. Was standingright by the path from field to bathroom/lockerroom for players. Keisel gave my friend a huge hug..was face to face with Ben. Got Art Rooney's autograph right after his interview. The new QB Johnson looked good. Could possibly be Ben's replacement down the road. Definitely worth the trip.

Doesn't Ryan Clark wear #21 in camp as a tribute to a murdered friend? I can't recall his name.....defensive back for the Redskins, I think.

What was he trying to have them sign? I've heard that players won't sign certain items.

    Sounds like an amazing night.

We have a winner. Clark wears #21 in practices to honor Sean Taylor, and he was talking about changing it for good if MeMo didn't come back this year.

SiriusXM Radio is doing a "Training Camp Tour 2012" on the NFL Network. I got to listen to the 3hr live broadcast from Friday Night Lights. When I listened to it, it was the overnight replay of the broadcast... but it still counts. Lots of great interviews from current and past players, and the current coaching staff. Lots of play by play from the drills that where going on and how the players looked. The hosts of the show and the many guests they had had nothing but great things to say about how the Steelers looked.

I'm even more pumped up about the upcoming season!!

    GO STEELERS!!

He is not in the same realm as Aaron Smith when it comes to talent, quality of career, time with the Steelers, production on the field for the Steelers, or showing what it means to be a Steeler.

I wouldn't be shocked to hear this story at some neutral site, but if more people cheer for him than Smith in Latrobe, then we are sadly as ignorant as the rest of the country.

I agree with the kudos for Smith, but peezy was a fan favorite and an inspirational leader on the field and in locker room. Just his raw emotion alone (not to mention his pre-game fights with opposing teams) was probably worth a few extra decibels from the crowd. :clapping:

Yeah, even though I never liked Porter personally, I agree that he was still a major part of our team for a long time, including one Super Bowl run that he was a big part of. He was a fan favorite and emotional leader, and I think it's cool that he's there. I'm not arguing that he shouldn't have been there, but to me he is less than half of the player and Steeler that Aaron Smith was, and it's a shame that not even most Steeler fans realize that.

I also love how outwardly spoken Porter is at his pride for being a Steeler and always has been. Even on his exit, he was classy, respectful and thankful for his time with this magnificent franchise. He is supposedly always appreciative with fans about it too. I'm not sure how much I'd like him if he wasn't on our team, but I am psyched he was... :hello: :herewego: :yeehaw:  :dancing: :towel:
