You never bench Ben Roethlisberger. Steelers always have a chance when 7 is behind center.

Thankfully there won't be a 5 day vacation prior to the next game so everything will work out fine

He has been benched before so...

In hindsight, he finally started getting after 3 quarters, good move keeping him in. Had he thrown a few picks down the line, people are talking the other direction!

Of course you wouldn’t bench Ben!Is this a joke?He had a perfect passer rating last week!Sure, he didn’t look good for three quarters but the Jaguars defense played a pretty good game for three quarters.Give credit when it’s deserved. There was not much separation from our receivers and the Jaguars controlled the line of scrimmage for three quarters with no holes created for Conner.I’d rather win lucky than lose good and that’s what this game amounted too as I don’t know why when we get down to within the 4 with 45 seconds and one timeout we don’t give it to Conner at least once. That interception turned my stomach but there was new with the penalty!I’ll take it!!!

I'll admit that when he absolutely forced that throw to AB in double coverage in the endzone in order to make Brown a happy player and it got picked I wanted Dobbs in there immediately. Ben was playing like complete garbage up to that point and it was clear that he got down in the redzone and lost focus from any other player on the field. His performance was beyond piss poor to that point anyways. Probably the first time I called for his pine riding. That being said. Glad to be proven wrong.

There's nothing wrong with benching a player who is clearly not on his game. NHL teams do it with their star goalies and MLB teams do it with their starting pitchers. Sometimes a guy just doesn't have it.

Just because we won doesn't mean that benching Ben wasn't the correct call. Lets not act like Ben was some world beater in the 4th quarter. He hit a wide open AB. Both Dobbs and Mason could have made that throw because AB was so wide open he could have adjusted to any crappy throw. I could have made that throw to AB, I guarantee it. Down at the goal line, Ben was unable to make a completion and ended up having to scramble for the TD.

Just like us winning doesn't negate the awful playcalling at the goal line. Sometimes you win despite something and other times you lose even when everyone plays well. If Ben had been benched we may very well have won anyway. But benching him wouldn't necessarily have been the wrong thing to do. If a guy isn't on his game, why continue to try something that isn't working?

Ben played like shiiite for three quarters, but he also made a couple throws down the stretch only a few qbs can make, and if Conner doesn't drop that catch he walks into the endzone untouched. Not sure any other qb on our roster wins that game today.

True, it happens all the time, in hockey and baseball.
Please give me an example of a veteran NFL QB getting benched at halftime in a 9 point game.

Bortles was benched earlier in the year and look at the miracle that did.

What separates a good qb in nfl from an average one is ability to run the 2 minute offense and that is probably one of his best attributes. But, I’d really not like to see him play Jacksonville ever again, unless that secondary is gone and moved on.
He has been a turnover machine against them, the last 3 meetings.

You don't bench him in a doable game. The playbook shrinks with dobbs in. I've wanted him benched a handful of times in his career for different reasons but if the game isn't out of reach, you gotta go with him.
Either way, they one and I get where you're coming from but today wasn't the day to pine him.
