What would be biggest for the City Of Pittsburgh 2012 / 2013?

    A) Pirates winning the World Series

    B) Steelers winning a 7th Superbowl

    C) Penguins winning the next Stanley Cup

    D) Point State Park fountain suddenly erupting oil out of it reducing gas prices to 50 cents a gallon (locally only before OPEC confiscates it)

Don't live in Pittsburgh, but I follow enough of Pittsburgh's teams to know that A would be the biggest, IMO. There's already a ton of Steelers and Penguins fans, and I'm not sure winning the championship would significantly help the fan base for either team, at least not long term. The Pirates need help badly.

The biggest would be for A-B-C to all happen. But I'll go with Steelers, hard to imagine there are more Pirates or Penguins fans than Steeler fans. No reason not to route for all three.

Pittsburgh Pirates fans I know are deeply, deeply committed to the team. Look at what they've been through and still loyally hung on. And just as the Steelers have done with the SBs, they are suddenly attracting new fans all over the place. I'm just not about to say there are more of them than there are Steelers fans.

As much as I want #7, I think the Pirates winning it all would go a long way for the city. Pittsburgh has been my favorite NL team since the Expos folded up shop and its great to finally see them coming around. PNC Park is a Top 5 park in the majors and it would be nice to see it sold out game in and game out, just like Heinz Field.

I love to to see the Steelers win #7. But the Pirates winning the World Series would be huge for the city. MLB is so hard to win without out spending tons of money, which small market teams can't either afford or don't do. I think Vegas odds were like 250-1 for the Pirates to win the World Series this year. 19 straight losing seasons, if your still a fan of the Pirates , which I've been even though I was 8 years old when they last had a winning season, you want to see them win badly. I root for all the burgh teams, and want to see them win every championship, but I know what's it's like to win Superbowl and Stanley Cup. But, my Pirates memories consist of Sid Bream sliding into home in 1992, Derek Bell in 2001, Brain Giles, Jason Bay, you get the picture..... there are no good memories in my lifetime and hopefully the Pirates make one this year.

I'm with you on this one. The last winning Pirates season I was 4, so needless to say I haven't had this much fun watching Bucco baseball in a loooong time. As far as the survey goes, I don't even need the World Series just a playoff berth. Then we can worry about the big one.

Although I'm a Steelers fan, when it comes to baseball, I'm a die hard Cincinnati Reds fan (but oh how I hate the Bengals). Having said that, I'm not much of a Pirates fan, but I'd have to say that the Pirates winning the world series would be the biggest boost to Pittsburgh of the choices presented. It would just be so much of a bigger deal and a huge step forward than the other options.

if you had ask me before I had ever been to pittsburgh I would have said steelers. visiting with some of the locals at some bars and talking to people up there, they are hungry for the pirates to win. I would have to say if the pirates and steelers are both in title hunts that city is rockin for what people tell me about the seventies. people expect the steelers to win, but if the pirates can compete again it would mean more to the city. imo

The best thing to happen to the great city of Pittsburgh this or next year would be the Pirates winning the World Series. They have NOT had a winning season in 19 years. In fact in those 19 seasons they have finished a AVG of 23.3 games out of first place.

I took in a series last year in August when they were playing for first place against the Reds and the Pirates took 2 of 3.Reds left in second place. The fans went crazy!! Then they end up 24 back.

They NEED this...A Pirates World Series win would do SO much for that city!!!!

And bring in a whole new generation of Pirate fans. Which will only be good for the city.

    So my answer is A

    P.S. I am a Reds fan.

Agree with those who say that World Series would be a bigger "boost" to the city than either of the other two - BUT - I still think my own order of preference is B, C, A.

So how does that help city?? The Pens won in 2008 season...STEELERS won in 2009..Pirates won in....1979...Thirty years... a lifetime ago..Give the younger Pirate fans alittle hope!!!

I said - that the WORLD SERIES would be the bigger boost to the CITY. I simply get more excited about Super Bowls and Staney Cups myself. That's all. I'm still rootin' for the Buccos - but the Super Bowl win #7 would be MY first wish.

I like the talk of winning Championships but realistically I would be happy if the Bucs finished with a winning season for the first time since I was in high school. They don't need to win the series to make me happy just stop the streak is all.

Beleive or not PGH is a baseball town also, we people love our
Pirates. I was fortunate to go to the 71 World series with my dad
I was only 11 yrs old at the time. Three Rivers had not been open to long,
I have also attended games at Forbes Field got to see the GREAT ONE several times
in person and then there was the 79 team ole POPS Chicken on the Hill with WILL.
So as much as I love the Steelers, the Pirates are LONG OVERDUE, here is hoping all
Three professional teams win it all and PITT returns to its past glory.
