Jags have historically owned us and Jags secondary players (Rasean Mathis anybody?) have given Big Ben nightmares.

Jags RBs a la Fred Taylor and now Leonard Fournette have also owned us.

Even lame QBs like David Garrard and Blake Bortles have made us look silly in the playoffs.

For the record I think we will pull out a win, but it will be a close game.

This is how the Jags could beat us, like they have many times before.

    1. Force Big Ben into turnovers. As stated above Big Ben's kryptonite is the Jags secondary. If Ben throws more than 2 INTs we will lose. If Ben loses a fumble we will lose. The Jags D has players that can rush the passer and force Ben into "Bad Ben" mistakes.

    2. Stop Conner. Conner is coming off a concussion so the Jags need to punish him. A few hard hits and Conner may be out of the game. Samuels and Ridley simply aren't the same. Make the Steelers wish they had Bell.

    3. Pound the rock with Fournette. Fournette left tiremarks on the Steelers D last time they played. He is coming off an injury so hopefully he is rusty. If not, and he is able to bust huge runs the Steelers will lose.

Not to be sarcastic, but isn't this a decent recipe for anyone to beat us?

Big Ben giving them the ball was a very good observation also.

Switzer will play a key roll in our victory Sunday. He's sneaky fast and he'll catch them off guard.

I like the Steelers chances if Ben has only 1 turnover or less .

If the only thing the Jaguars have is a good run game, we win. Yeah, they'll get some yards here and there but we can stack the box and stop them and they will be punting all day long.

They have to be able to throw it and be somewhat successful at it to win, just like all teams have to be able to throw it. No team can win only using the run game.

    Series history
All-time regular season series record: Jaguars lead 12-11

    Postseason record: Jaguars lead 2-0

Last Jaguars win: Jan 14, 2018 (playoff game, 45-42)

    Last Steelers win: Oct. 5, 2014 (17-9)

Current Streak:The Jaguars have won two games in a row (including the playoffs)

    Biggest Jaguars win: 30-9 (Oct. 8, 2017)

    Biggest Steelers win: 28-3 (Nov. 17, 1996)

Interesting takeaway: The Jaguars are 7-5 all-time against the Steelers when playing in Jacksonville. Although, after a 5-0 start, the Jags have lost five of the past seven meetings (including four of the past five) as the home team. Oddly, the Jags have won five of the past six games played in Pittsburgh, after a 2-5 (and 0-4) start there. The current trend favors the road team.

The regular season series will be tied after Sunday unlike last season this is how we do it this time:

    1) A scorned Ben will go off. Last season I said Ben will throw for 500 yds and 5 td's vs the Jagoffs in the playoffs......not to far off, this time he does it again.

    2) T.O.P. and 3rd down conversions leading to Bortles having to play from behind....major advantage us

    3) Bring it, pressure pressure pressure and BB will fold. If we do this at least 1 TD from the defense....sound familiar see last game. lol

    4) Limit the big runs of Fournette, we saw McCaffery break a few big runs vs us and that worries me but VW, Bostic and Davis need big games here.

    5) Score more points.....:smiley1:

Pittsburgh, heading into this game, has both the overall number fourth best rush defens and fourth best rush defense over the past three games. More importantly, they rank seventh when on the road.

For rushing first downs given up per game, Pittsburgh ranks fifth overall and eighth over the past three games. Away, they rank tenth overall in the league.

Pittsburgh ranks second overall in rushing play percentage and sixth overall the past three games. Again, more importantly, Pittsburgh is first in the league in rush play percentage when they play away.

Again, for first down rush percentage, while Pittsburgh ranked fifth in first downs given up, we rank second overall in the percentages that have been given up; ninth overall in the past three. For away, Pittsburgh ranks ninth.

Now, for the most important aspect, rushing touchdowns per game, this is an area that could use some improvement. To start, we rank eleventh overall and twelfth in the past three games. For the away aspect, Pittsburgh ranks 21st; among the worst in the league. That could cause issues.

For the rushing touchdown percentages per game, we rank seventh overall but 15th in the past three. For away, we rank 27th. Yikes.

All statistics provided are courtesy of TeamRankings.com

In short? In comparison to last year, we are better equipped to stop the run. Furthermore, Fournette is not going to have two of his starting offensive lineman for the contest. Granted, Pittsburgh may not have Stephon Tuitt either but Tyson Alualu is a capable starting defensive lineman. Add the focus of the offseason goals of better tackling and better communication and the overall results of this game will be different.

As I said in another thread, last season, few saw them coming. Now that they are seen by all, teams are more ready, Pittsburgh especially. As I said:

Ben handing the ball of to James, throwing the ball to, well, everyone that can catch (too lazy to list all the weapons we have) and an improved defense...

    End of discussion!
