Wallace is worth Fitzgerald like money...and I was at St.Vincent back in Aug.2010 and saw Antonio Brown for the first time...he has turned out to be worth the Mike Wallace like money...one good contract down...one more to go...get back to where you belong Mike...get back to camp.

Seriously???? He's 75% the receiver Fitz is. That puts him equal to most others in the league, since Fitz and maybe just 2-3 others are on that level, but Wallace is not on that level. Megatron, Fitz, Johnson, maybe that's it.

Vincent Jackson money, maybe. Not Fitz......

You're either Mike Wallace's mom, his agent or Mike himself to think that he is worth what Fitz gets and brings to the table.
5 Years / 50 Million Dollars should be the final offer from the Steelers. His one trick pony show doesn't deserve a dime more.

I have to say I'm on Wallace's side for getting a big pay day this off season. Wallace has certainly out performed his contract, and no player wants to go into the last year of a contract they out performed with out getting compensated for it. Many young players in Wallace's same situation do ask for a new deal and usually receive one. Put yourself in Wallaces shoes, he is only making about 200k a year, what if he goes out this year and blows a knee.....no big pay day for him then, and that is B.S.

Its a shame that the 2 sides couldn't agree on a price, and sadly I fear the fact that Steelers signed Brown and held a specially press conference for him has dictated the future of this. Wallace is most likely going to play this year and will be gone next year unless they cut some big time salaries to keep him, like a James Harrison for example.

This might not work out in the Steelers favor if Wallace has a big year and the Steelers decide they want to keep him somehow. They might really have to offer him Fitz money, when they could have gotten him for somewhat cheaper?

With a healthier Ben this year...after recovering from ankle/foot injury from last year...Wallace will be key to our offensive attack...Wallace would be best for the Steelers as a Steeler...than with Wallace in some other uniform at this point in his career...and no...I'm not Wallaces' mom or agent...but if I was...I'd be tellin' Mike to get his azz to camp.

It all stemmed from this story~ stlrs.co/OoLpX4

I've heard some doubts to the validity of this, and I have some myself since there's no mention of any source.

I saw it here, Jason LaCanfora has some credibility, I think, can't keep up with who's who anymore.

    http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1277 ... ke-wallace

I also saw it in at least one other article while I was looking for the one I saw it in and then there is the one TTF posted too. I believe it, given what Brown got, I think the 5yr/50mil is an accurate number.

I agreed until you said he has good hands! Hah! He has no hands for a top flight WR. Sure he can run, but realistically he can't catch. A great WR will catch in traffic and everywhere on the field. If Wallace is not open by 5-10 yards, he drops the ball. Average at best in the hands department. Speed is nice, but rarely does a sprinter repeat at the 100 in the Olympics. Care to guess why? Sprinters have a short shelf life and in the NFL, if all is what you got is based on speed, what happens when you lose that step? Can you say, NFL Network? Speed is highly overrated and is fleeting. Here today, gone tomorrow. I'd take a Ward type WR all day long over a speedy guy like Wallace that has a traditionally short shelf life.

Let him pound sand. He will be there come opening day, but let's just say bye-bye to this prima donna now before the circus tent gets put up.

If the rumors are true of 50 over 5, he not only has average hands, but his I.Q. is in serious jeopary. He is expendable. Move on.

Do you remember the catch he had to beat GB in 2009? No Dwight Hands-of-Stone here.

Do you remember the catch in the Super Bowl that hit him in the hands...yeah he dropped that...on 4th down. It was the last play of the game. You wants Fitz money you better catch everything.

It will be really nice when we don't have to talk about this anymore... But, I noticed that most of the coverage of the Steelers says that Wallace will report because it is in his best interest if he truly wants to earn another contract. However, the Pittsburgh Post Gazette seems to differ from everyone else. I read today Gary Dulac saying he felt "Wallace had played his last down in a Steelers uniform." For if Wallce came back now or any time before Week 11, it would mean that he sat out all of these practices and games for NOTHING and got NOTHING in return and he feels humiliated.

Another comment I read said that they would not be surprised if he did decide to report after Week 10, that the Steelers would probably deactivate him the rest of the season. This would be due to the fact that trying to play Wallace after not learning the offense, working with the guys, and playing with a chip against the organization would hurt the team. Meanwhile, other guys undoubtedly would step up in his absence. Therefore, having him come back so late would not be good for the team. I guess, then, after this and the season the Steelers would just let him walk and only get a third round comp pick in return.

I admit I think we are better with him on the field and he is not being very smart. He obviously is not helping himself look good to other teams.

I think that would be the best way to go if he doesn't report until week 10. Don't play him and let him walk.

Wallace would not see 10 million per season. NFL contracts are not guaranteed. The guaranteed/signing bonus money is where a large percentage of NFL player's salaries are paid. Signing bonus money also gives players a little security. Teams can't simply cut players without repercussions to the salary cap if the signing bonus is large enough. A good chance that a lot of the money in a 50 million dollar contract would be back loaded. Back loaded money makes it easier for teams to cut players or renegotiate contacts with players before the teams have to pay out back loaded cash.

I believe the sticking point in negotiations for Wallace and Steelers was the guaranteed money. I would bet that the Steelers didn't want to guarantee Wallace 20+ million. Based on what some other WR's received, Wallace probably feels he's worth 20+ mill in guaranteed money.

This seems pretty logical and possible. I also think he's worth 20 million guaranteed. And I think he is tough with good hands and not just a one trick pony either.

If things come together as they have the potential to do, the level of play we could see from our team is second only to the late 70's teams. We aren't talking about acquiring some FA from another team. He's our guy. Make him feel secure at the beginning of his contract and get him to camp.

There are a few players I would cut to get him back on our roster. D. Johnson, K. Jolly, one of the 3 TE's behind Miller, C. Scott to name a few.

Here's a thought, why not make it 6 yrs for 60+. With a bigger 6th year payout. We all know that the 6th year would likely not happen. He'll either be released or will renegotiate to stay with the team and help them win their 10th Superbowl by then.
