I thought he had turned it around after a rough start and then yesterday he misses another PAT.

He now leads the NFL in missed PATs after making the Pro Bowl last year.

Against the elite teams in the back half of our schedule and the playoffs we need EVERY.SINGLE.POINT we can get. A missed PAT could cost us a shot at the playoffs.

Hope he gets his mind right fast.

mind games. Some kickers never recover.

He was automatic last year and this year he is not good.

I hope he gets it figured out. Its only a matter of time before an extra point miss costs us a game.

It happened to Justin Tucker this year too, who is the best kicker of all time.

Percentage wise he’s 3rd from bottom for XPs. 4th from bottom for FGs.

Not great. Kickers get in ruts, and the changes in XP distance were introduced to make them less of a sure thing.

For what it’s worth, several teams we’ve played have multiple missed XPs against them (ie not just us). But sadly I doubt we can chalk up all the misses to stellar defensive special teams.

The CBS announcers yesterday pointed out every single missed PAT looks the same: wide right. I wonder why?

He needs to move that fat wallet to his left pocket so he can get that right leg cleared on his kicks

He's lost it. Mentally the extra point is no different than a 20-29 yard field goal, which he's nailed over his short career. I'm thinking he's approaching the 1 point as no big deal, compared to a 3 pt FG, or maybe the defense is lining up their BIGS in his weak spot, I dunno, but he's a nut case and once kickers become nut cases.... they start fighting paper towel holders in Sheetz..... we need a replacement...... you can't rely on a kicker that goes 1 out of 4 from 40+ yards, or who misses XP regularly

Maybe he has Steve Sax syndrome. For those who don't know he was a second baseman for the Dodgers who had a mental issue throwing the ball to first base. It was so sad to watch.

Don't forget, the xp have been moved back, not the chip shot they once were which is what the league was going for. I bet if you were to look, missed xp are up league wide.

I do think part of the problem is mental though.

They were moved back last year too and he didn’t have any problems with it then?
I personally wouldn’t panic though I think he’ll be fine. As you said missed field goals and extra points are up around the league this year.

They were moved back to be a 25 yard field goal.... which at this level is a gimme.

My son asked me if it was my first time being nervous with a Boz kick this past game. My response...

they were moved back to a 33 yard FG, the ball is placed at the 15, plus 8 yards for the snap and hold and then 10 more for the end zone and its a 33 yard kick. Still a chip shot by most standards, but not an automatic gimme anymore.

Let’s not make excuses people, he has sucked. I certainly wouldn’t feel confident in him lining up a 48 yarder for a win.

He has the physical skills, and he's done it before. I think it's all betwixt the ears.

Whatever it is the Steelers need to start going for two more often. Bos is 84.6% on extra points this year. Halve that and you get the two point success rate we need to have to break even with kicking it: 42.3%. Personally I think the offense should be well over that on two point attempts. Obviously the game situation matters but in general we should be going for two.

Oh, and go for it on 4th downs more often instead of settling for FG attempts. And while I am at it, go for it more often instead of punting. Never should have punted with Ben yesterday, not because I am opposed to Ben punting but we should have gone for it.
