The sports are drastically different. The salary cap and free agency work differently. The draft works differently. Trades, especially deals involving stars, are far more common in the NHL.

If you don't understand any of that, you really should learn before posting.

Your argument that the Rooney family is satisfied with being good but not winning it all is not only unfounded foolishness, it actually flies in the face of what we have seen in Pittsburgh for decades. If you really believe that, you should find another team. Of course, if you really believe that, you have no idea what you are talking about.

I also think they should trade for Peterson and I certainly don't agree with everything the Steelers do, but to say they aren't actually trying is just ludicrous.

Yet, he's about to be traded from a team the Steelers have a great relationship with and they aren't even trying because they are stuck in this old school mentality of not trading their 1st.

Please explain given all the factors; teams age, draft history especially with corners, etc. Why the Steelers shouldn't go for this?

Does that take them out of it? Patriots are going to be handed a Top 3 corner while the Steelers sit on their hands. Unreal.

Yeah they need to free up like 8 mil in cap to get it done or have the cards eat a few mil with a signing bonus or something.

Why not? They have no issue trading 1st to fill needs. It's won them Super Bowls.. Revis, Cooks, etc. Eagles made a trade before the deadline that won them a Super Bowl. Broncos traded for Peyton. Then there's the Steelers consistently good but not good enough.

How? Base salary for the year is 11 mill and he's already played and got paid for 7 games. Patriots have 5 mill in cap space. Steelers have 10 mill and sitting on their hands content with trotting Burns and Sensabaugh out.

Bryant McFadden is his cousin and said Saints, Patriots, and Eagles are all in the mix. Saints appear to be out now. So that probably means it's going to take at least next years 1st.

We don't know that he is going to be traded. We have stories based on anonymous sources claiming that he wants out and team officials saying it won't happen.

We also don't know that they aren't trying. Maybe they already offered a first-rounder and the Cardinals want more. You are assuming facts we don't have.

Saying they are stuck in an old-school mentality of not trading first-round picks is fair. Saying that they are intentionally focused on being consistently good, but not winning Super Bowls is ridiculous. The latter is what you were claiming.

You also just ignored my explanation of why the Steelers' circumstances are so different from those of the Penguins. Next time it might be nice if you acknowledged points when you are proven wrong. Thanks.

Because basically it cost them nothing...As it should have been...The price was a late rounder, Petersons price will be much higher, As it should be

Actually it was a seven and a four, so it wasn't nothing. It was relatively cheap. The Saints are desperate and without a first-round pick in 2019, they didn't have much of a chance even if Peterson really is available.

Something we finally agree. It is too different sports and very hard to compare to the 2. Plus Crosby Is a greater player in his sport than ben is a football or ab is at football. But I do agree the rooney's have been very gun shy. The nfl is changing. You have to build some and the draft and make splash free agency moves. You cant just strictly build through the draft anymore even the Pats realize that.

So no 1st, 4th, and 7th now? Sounds like a team trying to win now with Brees and you want to argue with me that the Steelers aren't complacent.

While this is true. You have a top 5 qb, wr, and rb's. It's not much different.

I am not sure why you don't understand that the Steelers are attempting to win now? They are attempting to win within the structure that has been successful for the franchise. They are not going to sell their future for the opportunity to win the Superbowl now. One player doesn't guarantee a Superbowl victory.

Agreed...They're DB's are their weakness ( like ours ) They are rolling the dice, change of scenery, lightning in a bottle kind of move...

They know the end is near for Brees, and they don't have the assets or cap room for Peterson

What SB did Cooks win? Tried to win the SB trading for him but fell short.

They have 10 mill in cap space do to rare circumstances. There's a top 3 corner available with a team they have a great relationship with. Where do you get the idea they are trying to win now?

Yes but they traded a 1st for him and gave it a shot and then got a 1st back. Trading for pieces has been a huge key to their last few Super Bowls but I didn't feel like digging to remember all the names. Steelers couldn't give it a shot to win now then trade him for a 2nd if it doesn't work out? Worst case scenario. I'd want to keep him for the next 3 years but just saying. Colbets needs to wheel and deal, do something!!
