I don't know why it seems we are so against trying to establish a pass rush specialist type of player. Every other team seems to have one. If you can't cover around here you can't play...it's silly. OA should be practicing. I can't figure out why that is a bad idea. Where is Thomas getting reps at OLB to rush the passer? Why not give K. Adams a chance? As far as I can see no one else is killing it. I got a better idea lets just keep blitzing CBs and Safeties we never get burned doing that...

Coaches are stubborn. They don’t react based on a game or 2. Don’t give chances to the hot hand lol

Burns and Williams struggles in coverage could be directly related to Dupree's ineffectiveness as a rusher. If he's considered serviceable, then Burns and Williams should be considered serviceable too.

It's simple . Dupree is not a football player...he is a athlete trying to play football. Anyone who knows football knows the difference. They took a gamble on his athleticism being able to be impactful on a football field and they're losing that bet...

    I agree.
Serviceable doesn't work on this defense. There really is no standout, X factor type player on this D who can make up for others shortcomings. Everyone needs to do their job. Unless Dupree's job is to semi-occupy one Olineman, he's not cutting it.

Burns and Williams are the biggest problem on this D and quite frankly it’s not even close. Not saying Bud has been good but he can occasionally make a play. Something I really can’t say for the other two.

    oh that is ugly...

Like I said in an earlier thread, we had this same argument with Ziggy Hood. Average starter but fans expectations are much more. Myself included. Maybe the team thinks that is enough out of a first rounder. But before the experiment can be over the team needs a viable option to replace him. You don't get rid of a 4 year starter without a player in mind to fill the spot. I think we see Dupree back on the team next year.

If I was Bud I would at least watch some tape to find out why I'm not getting home, then make some adjustments ...right?? Or if I'm his coach, let him know then "try" to teach him how to get home. To me as you mentioned above, he's a 1 trick pony. The good ones have multiple ways to get home...

You're right, Dupree is less of a problem than the other two.
I'll complain about them in the 'Is the Burns and Williams experiment over' thread.

Williams made a couple of plays Sunday and we only see the plays Burns doesn't make and not the plays he does. That's the life of a CB especially in today's NFL. What you don't like to see from Burns is the lack of mental processing...

Well he has tried the "Spin Move", Fail
He has tried the "Hands to the Face", Fail
So he continues to engage with the O lineman, Tight End, the Water Boy and Voila, Fail

So they switched sides by our intelligent D Coordinator, threw him the 5th year bone at 9 large and this is what we see out of a 4 year 1st round pick? Who was supposed to be a difference maker? Sorry "Serviceable" isn't cutting it. Chickillo can do the same, as a 6th rounder.

    Rescind the option.

After all the supposed work and Miller Camp over the summer, I'd figure they'd have him trying nothing but new moves all preseason. It's not like his roster spot was in jeopardy and he needed to impress anyone, and the game outcomes didn't matter.

I just saw an interview with Joey Porter where he said the OLBs were getting too much bad press and he felt they were playing well.

I think we found the source of the problem.

If Bud was 4 th round pick I think we would all be very happy with his production, unfortunately in our 3-4 defense serviceable production from either of the OLB spots is not good enough.

I agree with SC Porter was a great player but nothing special as a coach. I don't see Bud improving much when right now he should be in his prime years and a disruptive force on most pass plays given his draft position.
