Wk. 6 the good, the bad, and the ugly

The good:
1. We won a hard fought divisional battle
2. O-line was lights out all game... Ben's Jersey was cleaner than some of the guys on the bench
3. James connor is the real deal
4. The te's stepped up big
5. Juju made the Bengals pay for focusing on AB
6. AB came up big when needed most
7. Boswell looked settled once again
8. Watching burdick get trucked multiple times

The bad:
1. St's coverage units got sliced and diced

The ugly:
1. Coach Tomlin wasting 2 to's on challenges we had no hope of winning while passing up the one challenge that he had a chance on, costing us a td

2. Burfict clearly was going for AB's head again..... it was just karma that he missed and took out his own teammate instead

3. Artie burns is a serious liability right now

 

He should have challenged Connors touchdown. Pretty sure when he landed on his back he had crossed the plane

 

The bad: continuing to have Vince Williams covering AJ Green

 

I can go even better with this.


The Ugly: Vince Williams dropping into Zone Coverage on passing plays.

 

good list, I'll add one to the bad...the bengirl TD right before halftime.. Didn't cost us in the end but they moved it down pretty quick there

 

The Good: Pittsburgh
The Bad: Cincinnati

 

The GOOD: The audible on the AB TD play call after Cinci showed blitz was brillant, the perfect call for that defensive situation.

The BAD: Secondary coverage was still very loose.

The UGLY: Burfict and his head hunting tactics.

 

He only challenges plays that make no sense. That's what he does

 

Good list. Didn’t Tomlin only challenge one play though?

 

I seen Williams and Chickillo guarding WR's more than a few times...WHY?

 

I was screaming before each play when the Bengals were driving with 2 min's left, please don't have Williams cover anybody on passing downs, take him out of the game at that point. Sure enough a pass right over his head to AJ Green in the middle. Come on coach everybody could see it coming. This has been going on too long with bad match ups against our linebackers in pass coverage. Everybody knew they had to throw at that point... Just don't get the defensive philosophy at times.

 

The good-we are in the thick of things in a very weak AFC. We can still at least be the 2 seed as I think we finally beat ne this yr and jax wont even make the playoffs(which I had Houston winning that divison before the season). I dont see us catching kansas city though.

The Bad- our defense still isnt it.

Yes, otherwise he couldn't have challenged the Connor one even if he wanted to.

 

The good: The custom “last name” Jersey my wife bought last year is 2-0 so far. (She didn’t know I don’t normally like them, so it had sat unused in the closet). I broke down last week after the Greene throwback failed me again for the Baltimore game.

 

The good: .Steelers won
The bad: .Patriots or Chiefs will destroy Steelers in the playoffs.
The ugly:. Terrell Suggs

 

This season in particular, every time our D takes the field I get hella nervous. I hate that. We need better D! It's what we're known for! The only LB worth a **** is Watt, he should be rushing the passer MOAR! Often! Why can't we cover anything? Boyd had a day today! If Haden wasn't on AJ Green like stink on poop (He did drop that pick 6 though.) I think this would be a different outcome.Either way a Win is a win! Stack em high!

 

I’m leading the pitchfork brigade against Burns. He’s bad. Really bad.

 

The good: We won.
The bad: So did Baltimore.
The ugly: My bar tab after 8 hours. Ugh.

 

The good:
Vance Mcdonald(want to make sure I add him first), he has been pretty steady so far and very fun to watch.
The game winning drive, that was a big answer after the Bunholes drove down the field on us to take the lead.
Boz, hoping he fixed things.
James Conner.....no explanation need.
The oline, they looked good.
We came out healthy after playing these guys.

The Bad:
Tomlins coaching decisions.....

The Ugly:
Pass coverage, hoping it gets better.

All in all we won on the road vs a division rival and had no "major" injuries, it was a good day!

 

Completely agree on Vance. That catch early on in the game when he knocked out Burfict was hilarious. He was like: "nope, I'm still running. Nope, still running..." It was like watching a clip from the 1950s.

Out of interest, by coaching decisions do you just mean the challenges? Or something else?

 

I'll add: I think Fichtner's playcalling has got better as he's adjusted to the role. Ben is also making some good adjustments.

 

that was ugly but we had worse field position on our last possession and scored in 1 18 ... That was beautiful

 

vince is also getting run over in the run game too. the last two games he's played he hit the back head on and was left lying face down on the ground while the RB continued on. i really don't see what they see in him as " The Man". cinci was foolish not to exploit this coverage by him all day long.
