Steelers defense ended last season ranked 5th overall.... 5th passing D and 10th rushing D...... After the Falcons game where our defense looked good the current rankings after 5 games the Steelers total D is ranked 29th!!!!!! Passing D is 29th!!!!!! Rush D is 15th!!!!!!

Bostic has Been exposed multiple times in the passing game and it's cost us. Our Rush D needed improvement and Bostic's greatest attribute ( rush D ) has netted us a significant decline...!!!!!

Please please please tell me how his signing has been good...

What is our Record??? Were we not supposed to be SuperBowl contenders?????

He's so slow he routinely is the 1st guy down make the play on ST...

Jimmy Johnson and Belicheat has both been Quoted they value smart players over athletic..... How has that worked for Them???? Red is known as amongst the smartest D guy we have..... His production has always been there when put on the field.... I Love when underdogs succeed and I want Red to have that chance. So far the Bostic signing and pairing with Vince has Proven to be a failure.... Something must change or our season is over..... Fort?? Red??? Thomas ??? Edmunds to S/LB hybrid ???? Pleas for the love of the Game please something!!!

Your argument is overly simplistic and flawed. Bostic is just one man in a flawed defense. That ranking for an entire season included the times last year when Shazier was healthy. Nobody should expect Bostic to be Shazier. What he brings is a significant upgrade over every inside linebacker they had at the time of the signing.

Didn't you think he was going to be cut? Or that he was going to be benched behind Matakevich. Clearly, you were wrong on both counts. Bostic is their best inside linebacker on the team. Sure, that's a low bar, but it's still an upgrade.

Basing your argument regarding a free agent signed to play inside linebacker on the team's record is ridiculous. You don't judge individual players based on the team's won-loss record, not if you want to be accurate.

That said, the team is 2-2-1. They are a missed field goal in overtime by Boswell from being 3-2, exactly where they were after five games in 2018.

You made a terrible argument. You have been proven wrong. Asking the same ridiculous questions isn't helping your cause. Just admit your failure and move on. Thank you.

Bostic was the defensive signal-caller for the Colts last season. He has held that role with previous teams. He has consistently displayed his intelligence on the field. Your post suggests he lacks intelligence. Upon what are you basing that opinion?

You claim Matakevich is known as one of the smartest defenders the Steelers have. Who said that? Where did you get that idea from?

Intelligence alone is not enough to play in the NFL. The players have to be athletic enough to play the position. Matakevich isn't. He is consistently too slow getting to any play that isn't run right at him.

Your fondness for Matakevich is irrelevant. You seem to think he is owed something. He isn't. He even got to start Sunday and you're still whining.

    Atlanta Game :

    Snap counts... Bostic 43 D 7ST
    ......Red 41 D 18 ST

They've play virtual equally on D and Red play 2.5 times more ST ..

    Results :: Bostic had 5 total tackles - 3 solo 2 assist

Red had 6 Total.. 4 solo 2 asst

Breakdown I found PFF .. Bostic's pass tackles 1 short Right 2 short middle a 1 rush tackle off r guard

Red 2 pass tackles 2 short right
2 rush tackles ( 1 off LT 1 off LG)

It appears on less snaps red had equal # of tackles plus he played more ST and more tackles there...

The Savior Bostic vs The Bum Dirty Red!!!!!!

Again, how is the Bostic Signing soo Good.

I will ask again. Where is your evidence that Matakevich is one of the Steelers' smartest defensive players?

Where is your evidence to support your suggestion that Bostic is not an intelligent player?

Why did you duck those questions?

Regarding the rest, which is relatively meaningless due to the small sample size and inaccuracies in the statistics, you are welcome to take it up with the coaches if you like. They clearly see that Bostic is a starter and that Matakevich is nothing more than a reserve and special teams player.

Bostic has been the Steelers most consistent defender against the run, he isn't the next Shazier and struggles some in pass coverage but his signing has been solid.

This is exactly what I was talking about on the Winners and Losers thread. Thank you for providing an example so quickly.
