This is one of the biggest problems on this defense right now, over-substitution. Pick starters and play them as starters. All this rotation is causing miscommunication, and frankly it looks like a Chinese fire drill on the field. its not just happening on the line. Its the entire defense.

While I understand not having Bostic or Burnette (injury) being defensive signal callers because they are new to the defense. I question the use of Williams in that role. He has never been the most heady player out there. He jumps the first gap he sees, his coverage skills have always needed work. Why would you make him the signal caller? If they want to improve the communication how about using someone who can read the offense at a glance and who can get guys aligned right.

I'm more concerned about our offense. In today's NFL defense is a gone way of kickoffs and special teams. If our offense scores points like it should we would be fine. The Ravens' game was a prime example. The defense did as much as anyone could expect. We should have won that game if our offense showed up at all in the 2nd half. Pretty much all you can ask your defense to do is slow down the run, pressure the QB, and come up with turnovers. No one is totally preventing big plays... all we can hope for is to limit them.

Haley might have played a more positive role in our offense then we all thought. My self included. It's all on Ben's shoulders now.

I predict coaching changes if things don't get better. This is what Heyward is alluding to when he says you have to be all in. I'm sure he doesn't like it, I'm sure Tuitt doesn't like it but they are putting their trust in the coaches and system.

And when that coaching blows up in their face as I suspect it will, the blame will fall on the coaches.

Considering Heyward made that statement, it's easy to conclude that some if not a lot of the players are scratching their heads at what the coaches are doing and it shows on the field.

I think it will be Butler and position coaches. I doubt they show Tomlin the door, even if they only win 6 games although I think they should make a change, this team needs new blood leading the way.

I wonder how many other teams rest their top players like this?? Maybe we are making a mountain out of a molehill but it just strikes me as a bad move, even know I understand the concept.

Keith Butler being gone by seasons end? Absolutely. Same goes for Porter.

    Bradley and Dunar? Unlikely.

I'm less concerned about the 20 they don't play then the ones that they do. If they can't get pressure with fresh bodies rested I'd hate to see them late in games gassed. I guess we have seen that as well. I've always been in favor of keeping guys fresh,so I'm not gonna really complain now. The much bigger issue is the scheme that is neutering whoever is on the field....

It they would make a stop on 3rd down to get off the field they would be rested. Baltimore milked the clock for a 5 minute drive with a field goal. Offense 3 an out, or one first down an out. The defense is back on the field for another 5 min. drive with a field goal. Rinse. Repeat.

    excellent point...

As to the rotation, I liked LT Walton in the past but it seems like he has regressed. Wasn't he inactive for a few games? I haven't keyed on the d-line much at all during the games, but anyone have an opinion on Alualu's performance so far?

Good for Heyward for being a company man and trying to sell what the coaches are doing, but he lost me when he started talking about future games. In the NFL, you only get 16 cracks. You play for this week and this week only. You do not substitute your guys out in order to keep them healthy and rested for future games, because before you know it the season is over.
