Does anynow how Chuck Noll's health is? I saw him several years ago at a game looking in very frail health. Hope to get an update. Would be nice for the NLF Network to add his life story to their programing of coaching legends.

This orginization would never have the sucess it has without his leadership and vision.

I've read that he's suffering from some degree of dementia, how true that is I'm not sure. I know he does suffer from some pretty bad back problems. There was a thread here on his birthday back in January where someone shared a recent pic of him. I'll see if I can dig it up.

Thanks for your effort and response. They can say what they like about Noll, he will never be duplicated or replaced in the NFL. Would be intresting to see him coaching now with these "kids" with attitude just to see if his coaching style would endure the test of time. A truly amazing man beloved by his players and fans.

if you ol timers remember back then , reporters used to call chuck noll chuck knox all the time, even after the man won 4 SB's and turned around a whole franchise. i thought one of you old timers would have caught on to it. knox at the time coached the rams i believe. it happened more than a few times.

Chaz never really got the respect he deserved. In fact, the powers that be and talking heads are only now starting to realize what this man was all about.

He's the best and I certainly hope his health stays with him.

The Emperor, was and still is the greatest coach the Steelers ever had.
He is the Steelers the Rooney's owe him more than money could ever wish to buy.
He and Joe Greene and the Steelers scouting department SAVED the Steelers.
He has FORGOT more about football than BC and MT will ever know.

I hope he is doing well.

On a side note on the topic of Chuck Noll, I was watching NFL Network last night and I don't know what show it was but Al Davis was on (obviously a past interview). Al said something to the idea that he once gave Chuck Noll advice... play Terry Bradshaw instead of Joe Gilliam. Bradshaw will win some games for you. He said it was the worst piece of advice he ever gave someone. I wonder if Chuck Noll really needed that advice.

oh, there was a time those two butted heads. noll and bradshaw. it would equate to tomlin benching ben for byron. there was quite a bit of terry in for terry even before gilliam. lets just say they had their moments. of course al davis may have been trying to take advantage of the situation for his team at the time. these teams hated each other and i still hate oakland to this day because of those years.

Al Davis was an egotistic pompus jerk. He wants all the credit for whatever success the raiders had AND if that isn't enough he wants the credit for the success of the team that shut his team down.

Chuck Noll needed none of his advise nor do I believe he took any of it. Noll had two QBs with different styles and mindsets and had to push each of them in ways unique to each too see who would rise and who would fall. Obviously Noll knew what he was doing as being told by the FOUR Lombardi's that Al wish he had.
