Getting really depressing that we have to admit that Burns is likely a bust. What a waste.

I like Sutton, why not try it. I thought he looked good in limited time last season.

Artie Burns by his own admission has lost confidence in himself. And what Sensabaugh should have really done was try to push the WR out the back of the end zone instead of tackling him sideways and hoping the ball popped out. But anyway....

I'm a Sutton fan, but I think I'd like to see him in the slot vs John Brown more than likely. I'd keep Sensabaugh on the outside vs Crabtree and Snead. I'm giving Burns plenty of rest this week if I can. Plus I'd have Davis on the side of Sensabaugh and the less experienced Edmunds paired with Haden whenever possible.

I had liked Sensabaugh as a pro, but for the Steelers he just has looked pretty bad... I really hope we can upgrade next year...

Nobody played well against KC. He bounced back against Tampa.

Our pass defense minus Haden pretty much all stink.

I'm assuming we will see Sutton in the slot with Burns and Sensabaugh sharing time at corner. I would hope one of them plays well and grabs the snaps opposite Haden, but more likely it will be a matter of yanking the guy who just got burned.

Regarding Burns likely busting out, all of that was rendered nugatory anyways. What the needs are come 2019 were already confirmed long before the season began. Artie is just yet another issue.

Joe Haden is going to be 9 million against the cap next season. That is a far greater issue in itself given how many players next season will be UFA's (sans Bell). Cornerback is likely going to be a major point of emphasis next season if it has not already.

I would not be surprised that, like in the 2018 Draft but different positions, two corners will likely be selected in the same draft.

Yeah, I don’t think Artie is going anywhere...

I feel if they put him in the best situation to make plays he can succeed.

Isn't this a recurring theme? Maybe next year, maybe. it's like a broken record at this point.

What a shame that Burns is a disappointment. He doesn't seem to have the temperament to play the position at a high level at this point. Gets fried time and time again then makes one play and showcases. Or has a meltdown on the field. His latest is he "Guesses" he needs to improve.

The Hilton injury is a definite blow. At least Haden is back. I would like to see Sutton get the nod opposite Haden but I don't think that will happen.

Sutton isn't the answer to anything. We still have major CB problems. Pray Edmunds turns into something good or the entire DB group is a problem. Remind me what Tomlin's specialty was supposed to be. Once again, the entire FA and Draft needs to focus on D. The O needs another decent RB and maybe a bit more OL depth. That's it.

Our pass rush is fine, again the secondary is putrid. Was supposed to be our strength.

Haden is shades better than any of our secondary but on a good defense he would be average

That's the first thing I was thinking when I saw the thread title. He looked to be a liability with the offense targeting him.

Not sure exactly what is the problem in the secondary.

Is Dick Le Beau still living? << kidding and probably a bad joke.

we need to bring allen up off the PS. i'd like to see him get some limited snaps in game situations at least during the year to build on for next season. he didn't do bad in the preseason and his size is hard to come by.

I never bought into DL's scheme being 'outdated'. He had his defense in the playoffs last season.

James Harrison is on record on the Skip and Shannon Sharpe show stating it wasn't outdated either, but not many can run it as good as he did.

    ?

Is the old "scheme" aspect of Dick LeBeau still being discussed?

Whomever the coordinator is at the helm is meaningless. The issue is not scheme but the players themselves. You need the correct players to run the scheme the defensive coordinator wants to. However, in certain circumstances, the players are not the issue but the scheme; therefore the coordinator.

Pittsburgh has the talent on defense but it is fair to question whether or not Butler is the guy. Given how bad the defensive woes have been dating back even towards that Week Two disaster in Chicago last season, it is safe enough to state that Butler's seat is already warm and will continue to crank up greatly with each mishap game wise from here on out.

Yeah, our secondary is the Haden/Hilton show with an occasional thumping, that may or may not induce a call, from Davis. I've posted this else ware but I'd bring Allen up out of the PS and let him start to grow with the aforementioned two. Coty, Cam, & Artie can spell the others when and where needed and in that order (LOL).

Frightening to note the only two CBs worthy we didn't draft but let us get beyond that for now.

As a guy who follows the draft pretty closely, that part is tough to reconcile. It really is mystifying how many misses they have had.
