After watching the Rams and Vikings play and neither of these two supposedly good defenses can stop anybody, the Steelers defense doesn't look so bad .

The Steelers defense is bad right now but the league is definitely trending towards more and more games like tonight's. It is harder than ever to play good defense given the rules.

Those were my exact same thoughts watching the game. This is basically what Goodell has been aiming for.

I think the NFL Defenses need to be reborn.

    Yep.

More scoring equates to more excitement. More excitement means more viewership. More viewership means more revenue.

    Here is my issue;

At what cost? Do you (Rodger Goodell) really want to strip away what football was initially supposed to be in trade for more revenue as a whole?

    Don't forget fantasy football revenue.
To answer your question from Goodell and the NFL owners point of view: Yes.

Rex and Rob Ryan would be perfect for this defense and this team. They're the missing piece, you have a Keystone Kops secondary, Joey Porter on the coaching staff, Bud which-way-did-they-go Dupree, the LeVon and AB drama, a never ending plethora of dump penalties. Add to that mix, Rex Ryan as Bozo the Clown and you'll have one of the most memorable teams in league history, they'll be entertaining, quotable, unaccountable and won't win much.

When Rex Ryan arrived in Buffalo they were one of the better D's in the league, in just two short years he turned them to crap. A repeat of his performance with the Jets.

I see a lot of 3-4 guys being named as a potential replacement.

Maybe Tomlin finally goes to a 4-3 base....

If you look at games this way... Ben is the culprit for our losses.

It's a hybrid defense whatever that means. Tomlin's master plan to have players who are jacks of all trade and a master of none. Look where that has led us.

KISS. Either run that defense or do not.

Rams are far superior to the Steelers D, not even close. And they made a play to seal the game with the strip sack. It's almost impossible for defenses today but you at least have to make the crucial plays when you need them. Like the Rams against the Vikes and the Eagles in the SB.

I'm going to ask it: What would this defense look like If Tomlin hadn't run Lebeau out of town?

Probably a team that could at least stop the run.

    The answer is: yes.

The NFL is a business and we live in a capitalist society. The first commandment reads, "Thou shalt generate more revenue, year over year."

I may not like what it's doing to football, but I accept that this is what it is. This is our country's culture, and we are seeing that cultural impact on this sport.

The NFL thinks scoring brings in fans. Especially female fans.
