I need some honest opinions. I have converted a friends 15 yr old into a steelers fan. He is a titans fan and its killing him, but his son wants one of the new nike jerseys. He wants a wallace, but I told him to wait and make sure he resigns. How many people think its a safe bet to go ahead and get the jersey?

not a good bet. He are only $3 million over the cap, so Wallace isnt getting extended this year. I say 80% chance he is gone after this year

He'll be here this year. Next year? No idea. I think it's likely, but I'm not certain.

But for me the issue is, why Wallace? I like him just fine and all, but does this kid know the team he likes also has Troy Polamalu, Heath Miller, James Harrison, Brett Keisel, Maurkice Pouncey...? I can see the appeal of the speedy Wallace to a youngster, but if he wants a jersey now, and also wants assurance that he'll remain with the team, I'd go with one of those guys. And you can't get a better role model than Troy, who is also as big a badass on the field as anyone.

oh I agree with you, but he loves track and is obsessed with speed. He plays wr and he likes wallace and brown. we may lose brown too. He would probably love a Keisel, but cant seem to find one. He is one of the reasons he likes the steelers, because I got him to donate to a charity event last year. can anyone help me find one?

I wouldn't recommend a Wallace jersey. Personally, I think wearing a jersey should be for some player who was exceptional for a long time. Wallace doesn't remotely fill that.

Keisel jerseys were easy to find when I looked with Google.

I have an old printed Kirkland jersey and just picked up a Woodley last year. I was teasing my friend when they selected him and made sure she knew I told her he was going to be better than Timmons. She's one of those that believes the hype on draft day.

Its what the kid wants....tell him to get the Wallace jersey. He will at least get one year out of it. I get the Wallace fascination- my 17 year old daughter has TWO Wallace jerseys :hehehe:

Problem may be solved. I showed him some highlights of mel blount and he was more than impressed. I told him mel was my favorite player of all time and he ask why. so I showed him and he liked what he saw. anyone know anything about the mitchell & ness throwback jerseys?

Was going to say before your last post above, show him some classic Troy clips, flyin' through the air and catching Flacco offguard n'at.

My son is infatuated with Wallace and, more so, with Brown. It's kids for you...they love the high profile guys and wouldn't know what to do with a blue collar guy if one sacked them back into infancy.

Just explain to the kid what Wallace's situation is, and let him make up his own mind. If he still wants it knowing Wallace may not be here at some point in the next year or so, then so be it. It's really his decision anyway.

thats kinda the thing I was having trouble with. explaining the situation when I dont know enough about it. People say no way we let him go and then you hear he is not playing this year for 2.7 million. all I can think about is vincent jackson. I hope it doesn't turn into that kind of situation
