I agree it's time for a change. I don't see it happening and that's the sad part.

I like Mike but things have gotten beyond his means of repair..Reminds me of the Tubby Smith era at U of Kentucky basketball..he won a title immediately but the program seemed to veer off from there..good guy, I just think he's lost his team and the Steeler tradition

The Rooneys prefer to let contracts run out or 'retire.' Tim Lewis was an exception and his D was as bad as the one we are seeing now so who knows.

0-1-1. The Steelers are not firing a coach after two games when he has never had a losing season. It isn't happening. People can throw all the tantrums they want but Tomlin isn't going anywhere.

Its not just about the record for me. It goes to the lack of accountability. The consistent drama etc. It appears as though he is losing the locker room.

The only people throwing tantrums are the players

After two games? Some people don't have any sense.

Oh just stop. You don’t know anything about the lockerroom. You’re just throwing crap at the wall and hoping it sticks.

I was double checking to see if any of the revolving door 1950's/60's head coaches had ever been fired by the Rooney's and came across this description of HC Buddy Parker's last year with the Steelers in 1965.

"During the 1964 NFL season, Parker's team finished 5-9, but Parker signed a three-year deal on January 22, 1965, saying that the team was not that far away from a championship. He would change his mind when the team dropped its first four exhibition games, and resigned on September 5, reportedly telling team owner Art Rooney, "I can't win with this bunch of stiffs." :roflmao:

BTW - Mike Nixon who replaced Parker was axed at end of the 1965 season by the Rooney's. "Two weeks before the start of the 1965 NFL season, Parker abruptly quit. Nixon was promoted to head coach the next day, but endured (up to that time) the franchise's worst season with a 2-12 mark. Nixon was fired after the season ended".

So maybe not in the OP's lifetime, but in mine and several other old horses around here, it's happened.

That's fine. I really wasn't commenting on how good of a coach Tomlin. I was commenting on what I think the Steelers will or won't do. No way is Tomlin getting fired unless this season goes really, really off the rails. Even a 5-10-1 sort of record is not getting him fired, IMO.

I’ve always liked Mike Tomlin as a head coach but one of his jobs is to do what’s in the teams best interest.Favoring certain players and letting them do as they please and act in a non professional manner doesn’t help the team.I don’t care how good you are. There is no I in team!Someone like Tom Coughlin wouldn’t put up with this me,me,me attitude!

You seem to forget Kevin Gilbride, Ray Sherman, various ST coaches that I can't name.

The same Coughlin who wanted to win a game so bad he let Beckham act a fool on the field, including fighting with Josh Norman .

They were down 21-0 and came back to tie it by halftime. That does not seem like something that would happen if Tomlin had lost the team.

I don't get why people want to go with something like "losing the locker room" to criticize Tomlin when the defense is atrocious and provides plenty of ammo for anyone who wants to trash the job Tomlin and co are doing this year.

No,the Tom Coughlin who didn’t give a damm elite players like Michael Strahan amongst others didn’t like his “I’m not your pal,I’m your coach and if you don’t like the way I run this ship go sail with some other team”!

You do know Coughlin changed his style after veterans like Strahan complained.

And you never will. The Steelers will allow you to jump rather than be pushed.

I'd say the live video AB post a couple years ago demonstrated the definition of a lost locker room.

Of course it SHOULD happen, but there isn't a snowballs chance in hell it does happen. Tomlin is our turd until he decides to leave. MAYBE if they put up 3 or 4 really terrible seasons in a row he might be forced to resign, but even then I'm not counting on it.

I'm thinking the Rooney's are about due to give Tomlin another extension. :lolol:
