    One of two possibilities.

1.) Embarrassing showcasing in the playoffs.

    Or.

2.) Missing the playoffs all together.

Whiz received interest but ownership decided very quickly he wasn't their guy. With Tomlin, the Steelers thought they could find another Cowher and they're too stubborn to realize they didn't.

No Tomlin and Butler have a history together as college coaches.

Maybe not! If the defense gives up 30+ points in the next game, Tomlin might fire Butler to save face and sift the blame. Then Tomlin will probably take over as Defensive Coordinator.

Well, the things I felt I could overlook because he got teams to the playoffs seem to have caught up with HCMT. My reasoning is that in some minor miracle this team makes the playoffs, I still think his ass (along with others) needs to be held accountable and if that means he loses his job, so be it. I think this teams needs a fresh perspective, and I don't think this current leadership group can deliver.

There are very few good players on this defense, but that's no excuse for sitting in soft zones getting picked apart all day.

Serious question: I know we don't have the personnel to be good at it, but what's the worst that could happen if you go man to man? 23-28 for 6 TD to 5 different receivers? I mean If you're giving that up anyway what would it hurt to try something else?

I agree that either of those scenarios would be considered falling short, but I don't think it would be enough for the higher-ups to axe coach. Butler, sure, especially if the D keeps no-showing.

When I said "massive heads", I was referring to Butler.

However, if Tomlin is taking over defensive playcalling like he did last season, he also needs to be considered as well.

I heard someone say on the radio that players were waiting to get the defense call all the way up until the Chiefs broke huddle?

    Simple.

The scoreboard is likely going to look far worse than what has beem shown. How worse is anyone's guess.

In this early season of bizarre happenings (2 ties in a season) would we be shocked by the FO doing something so totally out of character like fire a coordinator?

That would be a Butler issue then. Plays should already be lined up for the defense; the last second being the absolute worst time.

I would be completely shocked, especially since the D looked good on paper last season (sacks and such). Everyone seems to put a lot of stock in stats these days. It's quite obvious there's a problem though, so who knows.

Unless there was some truth to what Harrison said, multiple coaches calling different defensive schemes and the like. (I believed him, based on the confusion I could see from watching on tv at home).

Even Cowboys have a really good defense. Most teams that put attention into the defense 3-4 years back are doing well today....

Except that team that has 6 first rounders, 3 2nd rounders On the starting D and had allowed 87 points last 2 at home lol

At least be halfway good, something.

How much worse could it possibly be in a 60 minute game than letting the opposing QB go 23 for 28 and 6 TD? He had more TDs than incompletions. Think about that for a second.

Tak on a 90+ completion percentage and possibly one to two more passing touchdowns.

It's almost surreal to consider. He didn't make a poor throw, a risky throw, a hurried throw most of the game. If you take away the yardage it was a Brady like performance where they tell him before the snap just where to throw it.

I cannot believe how much talent has been wasted here. It's unreal. Furthermore, why was Butler even brought back? I'm still angry today. Called in sick for work.

No thank you....his former pupils aren't exactly doing there jobs either. Where is the dominance from Heyward,Tuitt and Hargrave. They are dissapearing in games....stop promoting from within. The voices and messages are being lost....

If George Washington had this defense protecting Ft. Pitt in the French-Indian War, we would all be speaking French.
