Same here. Never got why you'd kling to something like that, but to each his own.

i've heard steelers santa say it for so long it just sounds right anymore. he used to be in our section in 3 rivers since 1970. ere we go stillers ere we go. he's a classic. far from weak, more a part of our history.

I've never seen that spelled that way. Where did that get it's start?

 

It's just WesternPennsylvaniaese. Sort of like... "wat yinz doin?"

I've always felt exactly the same way. It kind of fits in with Myron's "yinz," but I've never liked how "Stillers" looks or sounds.

 

What's funny is how people consider yinz to be Pittsburghese but in the south you hear that all the time. Once when I went up to Heinz Field I went to get me a hot dog and I told the guy I wanted a hot dog and he said " HOT DAWWWG!! YOU SOUND A LITTLE DIFFERENT!" I said "where do you think I'm from?" and he said "I'd say the south side of Pittsburgh" I said "Yeah bout 500 miles south of Pittsburgh" and he just laughed. Then another time I was in the Coca Cola Hall of Fame looking at the immaculate reception exhibit and telling my dad about how Al Davis sued over that game and still complains about it. And this woman behind me said "that's DEFINITELY not a Pittsburgh accent I hear" so she could tell that I was really southern. It was only recently that I discovered that people in Pittsburgh say "yinz". My wife gets embarrassed about the way I talk some times and she couldn't believe people up north would talk that way when I told her about it.

 

Hey, Casey Hampton has made a hell of a career out of being a Stiller.
