Just out of curiosity, what leads you to believe the Cardinals would be willing to trade Chandler Jones?

    Pretty funny, and pretty accurate.

I know if I was in the Cardinal's position, no way would I be giving up my elite pass rusher who got a whopping 17 sacks last year.

But yeah if they're dumb enough to trade him I'm down:cool:

Bell isn't getting any more money this year. And why in the world would you not want to extend Ben?

Dude, have you been hitting the pipe with Bell?

Where is the link to this "breaking news"?

And I might add a terrible decision :roflmao:

Yeah I didn't know that either and agree no way do the Steelers do that.

Edit: Maybe they would do it if they had a deal in with another team already and just needed to get him signed but still that is highly unlikely

I’m going out on a limb...

The Steelers are tired of investing 1st rd picks on OLBs and know that ILB has to be the top priority next year...suspiciously, we are carrying little depth at OLB...if there is going to be a move, it’s at that position - not safety, imo.

Tomlin loves to acquire former 1st rders. With that said, they go all in to acquire Clowney, who was an absolute wrecking ball when the Texans used him at OLB.
It’s a great investment and the Steelers are willing to pay to:
    1. Finally stop worrying about thAt position! I really dont believe they want to give Bud a contract simply because we have no one else...
    2. Grab a guy who has developed, is young (24?), and has the versatility to play OLB and On the line in sub-packages with the mission to get to the QB.

Texans said they will not negotiate with him this year...And obviously we know the Bell situation. I’m not sure if the trade will involve Flipping Bell once he signs, but I say if it’s possible...GET IT DONE!

I Think the Steelers are expecting to get 14.5 mill worth of production...whether it’s on the ground via Bell or by acquiring someone else at a needed position, whom possesses a needed skill set.
    PASS RUSH!!!

Right, but they can draft up a contract for next year Bell and the Steelers front office can agree on it. So then he’s a Steeler next year. Although that’s wishful thinking!

We've already covered they actually can add money to this year. Not that it has or will happen but technically they could. They can't add years or anything like that but this single year can be negotiated.

    From Steelers Wire:

The obvious question here is why are they doing it? There are really two options. First, the Steelers are looking to spend some money in free agency. Maybe on an edge rusher like John Simon or Hau’oli Kikaha. Or perhaps an inside linebacker like NaVorro Bowman.

The other option they are talking about is giving Foster a long term deal...............

Yeah, I just can't see a long term deal for Foster. I was never a huge fan of the guy, but he's certainly proven me wrong. That said, he's 32 years old. I just don't see a long term deal for him.

ILB I can see as well as an OLB. Sounds like a trade is in the works.

It's a shame that Adeniyi had to be put on IR. Raw but showed some real pass rushing ability. But can come back this season. And does anyone think that Dupree is going to stay healthy? Thin yes.

The ILB position sans Williams is in tatters. This would be my bet to be upgraded.

Carry over dollars for next season?
If Ben stays and you need a deal with Bell.. you will need cash...

If Ben retires and Bell is gone.. 38 million freed up, different story.

Clowney would be a good pickup, if there's any way possible. Only thing I worry about him is injury history. He has trouble staying on the field... but he's good when he's playing. That would be a huge upgrade at OLB.

It would be 100% asinine if Steelers tag Bell again in 2019. Steelers '19 draft should go either of 2 ways... 1st -RB, 2nd- ILB or 1st- ILB, 2nd- RB. BPA in the first round... whether it's RB or ILB. Note: Replace ILB with OLB if Matthew Thomas ends up being the next James Farrior at ILB.

I really hope Foster getting a long term deal isn't true. He is definitely on the downside of his career and this would be exactly what got us in call hell 8 years ago.
