wallace??? (yes another)

just saw this, thought i would share. don't know what to think.

 

Not sure there's that much to tihnk about it, apart from Wallace's inability to use Twitter properly (which I won't hold against him).

As someone once said, reading subtexts is probably more exciting, but every so often it is possible that people actually mean what they say.

 

i'm old, i don't tweet or twit or any of that, unless we have eaten at a mexican joint.

i kind of was lost by this. does he say he's not going to be here this year?

 

He basically accidentally put up a quote saying he was going be here next season, then took it down and said it wasn't him that said it. So I don't think that equals he won't be here. Or that he will be here. Just that he;s not great with computers.

 

I'm pretty sure they will get a long term deal in place before training camp both parties want it now its nust finding a number everybody is happy with. 2014 the cap is supposedto go up 15 or so mill so that gives some wiggle room

 

i was looking at the cap, and we still have some moves that could be made yet to free up a few mil. this year too. i think the trouble comes next year.

 

Actually, he re-treated a quote saying that he wouldn't be here next year, then quickly followed that with "Didn't mean to re-tweet that I will be with #steelernation".
Which doesn't mean that he intends to sign long term (but it also doesn't mean that he doesn't) but we will be cheering for him in 2012.

 

So the question still remains then 'is he is or is he ain't our Maybe?'

 

Article says wallace is "not under contract" and not obligated to participate in the ota's. I was under the impression he is still under his rookie contract through the 2012 season and is in violation for missing mini camp and other required ota's. Who's right? And if he's not under contract, why is he stopping by to pick up his playbook?

 

His rookie deal was for 3 years...so last year was his last year under that contract. But since he didnt have the minimum 4 years in the league he only became an RFA not UFA this year. So the Steelers own the "rights" to him as they have tendered him before the deadline where he could become a UFA. So its kinda like he is but isnt under contract. As far as the playbook...its a good move to have it so you know the plays...as i think he realizes one way or another he will be playing for them this year be it on the 1 yr deal or a long term deal...so its beneficial to know the playbook.


As a side note...can we PLEASE combine all these Wallace threads...i mean come on...unless he signs a long term deal there shouldnt be any reason to keep making new ones for stupid little tidbits of "news"...and it keeps things organized in one thread. SMH

yea, now he has a coaster for his coffee table. LOL sorry maybe he'll sell it to offset what the steelers aren't offering.

 

thanks TTF. i'm not so sure it's set in stone that he'll be in camp day one, but at the end he said when he can. i'm glad scottie is working with him on it though, that's a good sign. we have to remember these coaches are still learning it too, so it should help them both. it sounds positive which is a good thing. we need this receiving corp intact this year. i have to laugh though, ben isn't giving these rooks anything yet.
