No, I'm not including Noll; he probably has more hall of famers than anyone's probowlers, not even fair.

But who has drafted and developed more PB's: Tomlin or Cowher?

I think analyzing the # of PB's is a pretty fair way to evaluate talent.

    Cowher (1992-2006, 14 years):

    Kirkland
    Searcy
    J. Steed
    D. Perry
    Chad Brown
    Gildon
    Kordell
    Vrabel (but as a Pat)
    Faneca
    Ward
    Porter
    Aaron Smith
    Plex
    Chris Hope
    Polamalu
    Ben
    Heath
    Santonio Holmes

*(Cowher also inherited, but still developed, Woodson, Lloyd, Lake, Foster, Dawson)

    Tomlin (2007-present, 11 years)

    Pouncey
    Heyward
    Gilbert
    Timmons
    Woodley
    Decastro
    Bell
    Shaz

Now you can throw in who the GM was, but Cowher had the same one as Tomlin half his tenure.

How many losing seasons did cowher have? Or to put it another way draft picks in the top half of the draft?

I don’t mind these type of posts, but literally no effort was put into this one.

    - you literally left the best steeler on this list off in AB (respects to Polamalu)
    - you missed DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR James Harrison, Ryan Clark, Rosie Nix, Boswell, Wallace, Kiesel, Villanueva for Tomlin
    - you also missed Willie Parker and James Farrior who had a pro bowl for both.
    - you missed Marvel Smith, Gary Anderson, and Kendrell Bell for Cowher. Omitted Bettis? Hartings?
    - you gave Ben and Heath to Cowher despite neither of them being a pro bowler under Cowher (at the very least should be inherited and developed) Polamalu had more pro bowls under Tomlin than Cowher too.

If you move the players in your inherited list to where they belonged (who they won their pro bowls for) and added all the omissions, Cowher 26 and Tomlin 21.... Cowher has a couple more but Tomlin has 3 more years to catch up. They will end up very close. Both coaches had immense talent on their rosters, and so far each have one super bowl win and one Super Bowl loss.

He said drafted no? Bos, AV, Harrison, Ryan Clark weren’t drafted by Steelers

In fairness Bos, AV, and Harrison were all undrafted. As well as Parker. But the title of the thread was which regime produced more Pro Bowlers... I know it said drafted and developed, but I’m sure the development part counts, no? If a player went undrafted but turned into a pro bowler, wouldn’t one agree that the coaching staff should get some credit? Or if a player was drafted by one coach, but was developed by another, shouldn’t the second coach get credit for his development?

I know it’s splitting hairs, but that was a bad way of phrasing it. Both Cowher and Tomlin have drafted and developed great talent at a similar rate.

Only to be outdone by the lack of effort put into your response.

    - you literally left the best steeler on this list off in AB (respects to Polamalu)

    Already addressed in post.

    - you missed DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR James Harrison,

    Wasn't drafted by the Steelers.

    Ryan Clark,

    Wasn't drafted by the Steelers.

    Rosie Nix,

    WDBTS

    Boswell,

    WDBTS

    Wallace,

    Not a probowler

    Kiesel,

    NAPB

    Villanueva for Tomlin

    WDBTS

    - you also missed Willie Parker and James Farrior who had a pro bowl for both.

    JF WDBTS

    - you missed Marvel Smith, Gary Anderson,

    Noll

and Kendrell Bell for Cowher. Omitted Bettis? Hartings?

Beyond tiresome. Bettis was a trade, JH FA signing

    - you gave Ben and Heath to Cowher despite neither of them being a pro bowler under Cowher (at the very least should be inherited and developed) Polamalu had more pro bowls under Tomlin than Cowher too.

OH, OK, so now the regime drafting the players don't get credit for them.

If you move the players in your inherited list to where they belonged (who they won their pro bowls for) and added all the omissions, Cowher 26 and Tomlin 21.... Cowher has a couple more but Tomlin has 3 more years to catch up. They will end up very close. I guess if you use your "anything goes" formula.

Cowher right now ... but, all Tomlin has to do is take this team to the superbowl and win it . .. and He will be right there with coach Cowher

Wallace did in 2011. Sanders is still a wr we drafted and developed. We couldn’t afford to keep him, but still a quality player.

So Cowher coaches for longer and had more losing seasons and draft picks in top half yet somehow you’re comparing apples to apples.

I don’t know, but I noticed you mentioned Vrabel and I noticed you also made note of some players left over from Noll that made the pro bowl under Cowher, but didn’t do the same for Tomlin. The problem is you continually start these threads with an obvious agenda. And that’s to somehow bad mouth Tomlin or the Steelers.
We get it you think you know better than the Steelers. Continuing to point this out isn’t going to make it true.

You said drafted and developed... you can’t keep credit from Tomlin for developing UDFA’s into Probowlers. Guys like Clark and Farrior weren’t Probowlers until they became steelers. That deserves credit as well.
