Maintain the pressure on Ben

Which is why the pick it's a win-win for the FO: pressure plus (hopefully! ) a high quality backup in the short term. Perhaps Ben's biggest fear is that Rudolph would get the same opportunity Ben did *his* rookie year.

 

There is zero extra pressure on future HOFer Ben.

Good point, I forgot about Farve and he did get smashed as much as Ben.

 

Ben will get his next big contract next offseason, and Rudolph will sit for the next 3-4 years.

 

I’m OK with that. But there’s no way his motivation was from fear of losing his job to Mason Rudolph at least not this season anyway.

 

This whole idea that Mason Rudolph is the heir apparent to Big Ben is Pure speculation at this point. What we do know though is big Ben is a future HOF and I’m sure he’s not at all intimidated by Mason Rudolph.

 

Either Rudolph or Dobbs will be Ben's replacement. Ben better stay healthy. If he goes down, he may forever be known as Pipp. If he goes down and one of the youngster plays like Ben when he had his shot, goodbye big extension contract!!! Then he will really feel the pressure.
