Just to clarify when I said that we have a long line I was just meaning that the amount of time that we've gone with only 3 coaches is really incredible. And if you want to form a literal long line just line up our Lombardis and Hall of Famers and future Hall of Famers that those coaches had a hand in drafting.

It would probably have inspired Ridley Scott in Gladiator, in a strange Back To The Future-esque twist.

Lombardi took over a Packers team that had stunk for so long that the league was considering dumping them. He was able to do that in part due to his ability to basically be a drill sergeant at times. 'My way or the highway' worked well in his day but today's coaches like Tomlin have to be motivators, intermediaries and part-time babysitters. It's hard to compare the two since the game has changed so much in 50 years.

Tomlin's success strings for the most part are being pulled by Mr. Rooney. I find it hard to believe that the firing of Ariens and the hiring of Haley as much as the press and the Steeler front office wants to say it was none other than an order from Mr. Rooney and covered up to the fans as a Tomlin move.

I like Tomlin, but I find that since being the HC he has not benn a problem solver, goal line offense inability to score touchdown has been a problem since Tomlin has arrived and has not been addressed, the lack of a running game never solved.

To compair Tomlin to Lombardi is insane I don't care who is doing it.
