Yeah, he's done... You know who else faded away? Ben Roethlisberger. 5 turnovers and only 1 TD in his last 3 games, plus 2 more fumbles recovered by teammates. Rating in the 60s. That is ugly. If it was time to re-sign that guy to a new contract I'd tell him to shove it.

The "What have you done for me lately" stuff has gotten out of control, particularly about Wallace. I know Ben has been around longer than Mike, but Mike has had the best three years to start a career out of any receiver in the last decade, so I'm not sure what else you could ask for if you're looking for reassurance. He's never missed a game or been hurt. And hey... I wonder if Ben's "fade" could have affected Wallace's? Nah.

His fade was longer then 3 games he is good and I want him back but I would take gronk all day over him. Dude is a beast and deserves to be paid as so. Putting a man over the top doesn't eliminate him. Wallace is pure speed most of his routes are goes and drags where he just outruns people. In the clutch I'm looking for brown not wallace. If I need a tough catch wallace isn't high on my list of wrs brown and cotch are absolutely ahead of him.

don't forget mike's still young and should get better. he does what they wanted him to do. i'd like to see what he could do under this OC and system, with the qb a little more controled.

it all boils down to him signing the tender and playing for cheap one more year for the team to decide if they are better with , walace, sanders, clemons and cotch or brown, sanders, clemons and cotch in the new offense.

Clemons is he real wild card but maze could knock him out of the top 5. Maze is tough and has very reliable hands but he is what we already have. I'm liking clemons size and speed hopefully he has the hands as well

You're implying a man over the top eliminates wallace. What's that mean, that on all those long touchdowns there was no man over the top? That it took 2 1/2 years for defenses to realize, "OOOOHHHH we just need to put a safety on him! Why didn't I think of that sooner??" There always is a man over the top; he simply outruns him.

There are many reasons for Wallace's statistical slide towards the end of the year, and many of them are not his fault. An injured QB, an inaccurate QB, added attention from defenses, and the emergence of another receiver, who coincidentally emerged right around the time Wallace's numbers started to drop. Hmm... And I love Antonio Brown, but doesn't any part of you wonder how clutch he would be or what his numbers would be if he was facing the best two defenders in any given secondary almost every play? Every other receiver on our team benefits from Wallace, especially Brown, who is definitely good enough to merit top double coverage, but never sees it because of who he plays across from. Mike Wallace draws Champ Bailey. Antonio Brown draws... how many people know who Denver's other starting CB was last year? I had to look it up.

Here are his yardage totals for the last 8 games: 68, 54, 17, 38, 57, 66, 82*, 11. Also 49 yards on 4 carries. He had 3 touchdowns during that time (Antonio Brown had 1). I see a couple low numbers in there, but is it really that bad? These are the numbers everybody's flipping out over, and I just don't get it. Everybody knows there are other factors like I mentioned above (we all know he gets yardage in big fat chunks, so why don't you check out some of the horribly thrown deep passes in the 2nd half of the season while he had 5 yards on the defense?), but they act like his performance was SO bad that there's no excusing it. Really? Was it? You're going to willfully throw out the first 2.5 years so you can use this to decide what kind of player he is?

Comparing Wallace to the others, what do you suppose the ratio is when it comes to running streaks, scorching DBs, and being wide open? 5 to 1? 10 to 1? 15 to 1?

Despite having good speed, the other receivers rarely even run fly patterns at all, let alone get wide open with the ease Wallace does. Ben's deep ball accuracy got worse and worse along with his health (not sure if those are connected, but it's possible). Wallace kept doing his part getting open, but the ball was not delivered. Meanwhile, the short and intermediate stuff was still working. That's why our short and intermediate receivers kept doing well, and it's why Wallace still got some catches and yards, but nothing deep. If you look at his game-by-game stats, to me it's very clear why his yardage dipped: his long balls disappeared. Below is a chart of yards and "long"s (longest catch of the day). You'll see... no more deep balls, no more huge yard totals. Simultaneously, Brown's numbered exploded.

    107-26
    126-53
    144-81
    77-40
    82-40
    76-48
    118-95
    70-16
    68-25
    54-13
    17-9
    38-19
    57-22
    66-36
    82-46
    11-11
    26-17

Let's be real. Those first 7 weeks were unbelievable. Not just good, they were extreme. Lose the deep ball, lose the extreme yardage, but pick up the game elsewhere (AB exploded week 7 and kept it up). And if the deep throws had been even adequate in the second half of the season, then you get the best of both worlds. I think a healthy Ben, a better OL and a better OC will all help the deep ball situation.

his numbers were not that bad during that time. you have to look around at the other receivers too during that stretch. the ball was spread around. heath, saunders, brown, sanders, cotchery, mendy, even johnson had a few thrown to him. he's not the only guy that they target. he had his first 2 TD game during that time and some rush yardage. no real fade by just him.

In this era of FA it is extremely hard to keep everybody you would like to keep.
Now lets take a look back at some players, the Steelers have had to make a decision on.
Here is just a couple, Burress or Hines A.Smith or Peezy? There is only so much money
to go around.Along with the emergence of Antonio Brown you can see the dilemma
the Steelers are in.Lets hope when the new TV contracts come out this will increase the cap.
Del, you are our resident capologist, how much can we afford?

one thing most are not talking about is sanders. he will need a contract too. if the kid stays health this year, he could be as good if not better then both. if he has a big season, they are in a real delema. or are they? i hope all 3 give us a 1 year run together, it could be special.

I agree Mac. Manny Sanders is very impressive, matter of fact the year he was
drafted I commented on how impressive he looked @training camp that year.
He is supposedly the best route runner of all three? Unfortunatley for him he has had
to deal with the injury bug and the unfortunate death of his mother. Unless he puts up some outstanding numbers this year, he will have to wait another contract to cash in into the
    big money.
