What did floyd Mayweather need at 40 risking his life boxing last August when he had already made over 500 million in his career?

mayweather couldn't pay his taxes supposedly. I find it hard to believe that he's ran out of money but then I see who he's running with and what he's blowing it on... Makes sense, there's never enough for a person that has no sense.

He will break the bank somewhere else and he will never be as productive as he was in the Burgh.

Much of the $33 million supposedly is the amount he wanted up front. How much though is something that we will likely not know ever.

Steelersdepot is reporting the Steelers offered 33mil over the first 2 years, 45mil over the first 3. Bell will do better on the open market, but probably not by much.

I'm over it already, run the wheels off of him and get a RB early in next year's draft.

Funny how that goes.. I have moved on mentally as well. I already have him gone from Pittsburgh.. Time to move on. A healthy Conner might surprise people.

Please. That was the easiest money Mayweather ever made, and he knew it would be.

Give Bell the Conner carries of last year. Let him sit and watch Conner run the ball from the sidelines and play STs.

You missed the whole point of the article....my guess is that the 70 million wasnt the issue...its the guaranteed money that is the issue which if you acknowledge the fact its only 10 million then I understand why it was turned down. I've seen contracts where 1/2 to nearly 3/4 of the contract is guaranteed. They low balled him on the guaranteed money. If you dont understand that then you really dont have an opinion on the matter.

This is one reason why players need to get as much money as possible. Once players out live their usefulness to the team then fans and teams are quick to discard them.

It would be interesting to see the fans that are being overly critical of Bell in his position. Would those same fans be willing to take substantially less than they believed they are worth just for the team?

The next CBA is only a few years away. This is probably Bell's last chance to get a big pay day. He needs to get as much money up front as possible.

What can Bell guarantee the Steelers? He hasn't delivered a SB. Why should we guarantee him more than that offer?this:cool:

He's proven to be a very productive player. He's a good fit for what the Steelers like to do on offense. He makes the Steelers offense better. He was voted as a top 5 player in the league. The Steelers are attempting to win a SB with the best players possible.

Someone will give him more money if the Steelers won't.

Yet not delivered a SB win or even been to one since he's made us better. Really? Maybe just maybe we have a lot of other players here that make him better.

Substantially less? What did they offer him? 60,000 a year and a 9-5 job in a windowless concrete tomb?

Honestly it's hard not to move on because this guy is just way to much of a risk to lock up at anything close to what he is asking. He is a great talent but a complete headache and selfish player. If he was a model citizen it would be a lot harder for the team to let him walk but with multiple suspensions, no showing up for off season training, skipping meetings/walk throughs - coupled with injury history, he is way to much of a risk to lock up to that much money. He is his own worse enemy.

If another team signs him for the exact same money but guarantee more how would they be overpaying him??

And you are grossly overstating the difference in what both sides wanted. Your comment seems to say that an offer of 70 million dollars for 5 years is somehow substantially less than what a reasonable person in the same situation should expect? is that wrong?

NFL players rarely see the end of their contracts and probably never make X amount of dollars per year.

What good is a 5 year 70 mill contract if 35 to 40 million is in the final 2 years? 2 years in which Bell might get cut. The Steelers basically wanted Bell signed for 2 to 3 years and could cut him after the 1st or 2nd season without much salary cap ramifications.

The guaranteed money of 10 mill was less than what Bell wanted or could get on the market. I don't think it's wrong to assume that Bell could get 20 to 30 million in guaranteed money from another team next off season.
