That guy would have been incrediable. For those who never saw him play, I watched him loop around right side, all the way across to the left, and then run down a receiver from the back who caught a swing pass. It took him about 70 yards to catch him, but he did.

Wow, we've had a string of former Steelers passing away this year. Bennie Cunningham, Ron Johnson and now Gabe Rivera. Rivera would have absolutely been an incredible player for the Steelers. I saw him throw offensive linemen around in much the same way that Reggie White did a few years later. Not saying he would have been on that level, but he would have been very, very good IMO. Prayers for his family.

He would have played on those mediocre 80's Steelers' teams, and he would not have made enough difference paired with those bad Malone/Stoudt/Blackledge/Woodley offenses.

    Sad news.
Very bad draft that year, aside from passing on Marino (and Darrel Green).

Such a tragedy. He made the best of it but damn. I always think had the Steelers drafted Marino, Gabe would have never had his situation happen. Is that wishful thinking? I dont know. One mistake cost him so much. Just sad.

I wondered about that domino effect too.

Sad to see him pass. RIP Gabe.
