Does anyone know where I can find good highlights of him youtube sucks I was trying to find the hit he put on Brett Favre in 1995 preseason game, I love that hit one of my favorites. On youtube it's listed in the search but the video is nowhere to be found. Lloyd and Rod Woodson were my favorite Steelers in the 1990's.

I was at that game, And needless to say Farve never came back
into this meaningless exhibition game, It was the hardest hit I have ever seen Lloyd put
on anybody, Lloyd was also one of my favorite Steelers of all time and I can go back some time.
(Ouch). Did you know that Lloyd had (2) ACL his first 2 seasons? Blew both of his Knees out
and still became the player that dominated his position for years. What a motor,
by far the nastiest Steeler to ever play the LB position. God I wish we had more Greg Lloyds.

I still think one of the best Steeler related product commercials was for Reebox. I mean who can beat the line "This load in the quarterback's pants is brought to you by Greg Lloyd and his brutus love shoes" I mean classic. It is my personal opinion that we have lacked this true mean and nasty leader since Porter left. Sure Silverback is intimidating but he lacks that in your face, I 'm going to kick the living hell out of you if you touch my teammate vibe that you saw from Lambert and Lloyd.

"God I wish we had more Greg Lloyds."

Not me. He failed big time when it counted the most. In the superbowl loss to Dallas, Dallas totally dominated and nullified him. Therefore he was pretty good but far from great.

I remember early on in the SB Lloyd getting absolutely crushed by a pulling Nate Newton.

Cowboys had one of the most dominate lines of all time. They had guys all well over 300lb when most teams had maybe one or two hovering at 300. That is why it is hard for me to give Emmit Smith all of his due. I never saw a line create holes for their RB the way the cowboys line did. Lloyd was small for an lb too. I think he played at 220lb?

Steelers d in that sb were dead tires in that game. They got no help from the offense in that game and evtually got worn down by that line.

I love that Farve hit. I saw that live and will never forget it.

Definitely, I agree, one of my all time favorites, such a mean s.o.b, he was one of the greats for sure.

Lloyd was definitely the epitome of a Steelers LB and just a plain nasty, in your face, no holds barred beast of a linebacker. Its such a shame that his career was cut short by that staph infection. He was never even close to being the same player after that.

LOL, you have definitely spent too much time in a coke oven, thats for sure, layoff on inhaling those fumes in there buddy. I guess with your logic then our entire team sucks and no player is a great player unless we win the super bowl that year?

Lloyd was a great player, but I never liked him. I don't agree that guys like him (or Porter) should be the image of the Steelers. I much prefer Harrison, who is as big a badass on the field as there's ever been, but doesn't need to run his mouth about it... and is a clean player, too. If I'm remembering right, Lloyd could be less than clean. And the gun in the mouth thing is way too much to overlook.

But it is too bad he got that infection, and I would like to see that hit again. I haven't seen it since the first time.

I never liked him as a person at all but loved him as a player. But then again, I don't like Lambert as a person either but he is my alltime favorite Steeler for what he did on the field as a player. These guys just have plain nasty attitudes which is why they played the way that they did on the field. It amazes me when someone is suprised that these guys are total ignorant jerks off of the field. Just as Lloyd's shirt said that he was wearing during a practice stated "I wasn't hired for my dispostion"

Just as Lambert was, Lloyd was one of the most feared LB's ever in NFL history. They both truly struck fear in any QB they played against. I still love when we beat Indy in the AFC Championship in 95 and live cameras picked Lloyd up screaming, "We're going to the fu***n Superbowl"!!!! I love Harrison too but think that Lambert and Lloyd brought a certain leadership role/ attitude that the Steelers thrived on. That role/attitude is one that it seems lacks today. But also, with the rule changes that cripple physical play for defenses and Goodell's attempt to water down the physicallity in the NFL, I don't think that you will ever see a player like that again. Harrison is the closest thing to a player such as this but in my book, will never compare to Lambert or Lloyd.

One of my favorite, under the radar Greg Lloyd moments. I remember it live and it was like, "did he just say that?"

You can FF to 1:12 when he starts his speech.

I appreciate the fact that you know what a coke oven is(was). Fortunately I got out of there before the fumes caused permanent damage.

Speaking of logic, I implied that guys like Lloyd were pretty good but not great. Somehow you transformed that into an implication on my part that they sucked. That's just plain wrong thinking.

Well, maybe it isn't the coke oven fumes then but there must be something wrong there for anyone to say that they would never want a Greg Lloyd on their team based on what happened in the Super Bowl. :? LOL, just messing with you about the coke oven fumes, had to throw that in there from working around coke mills myself. Yeah, I know perfectly well what a coke oven is, I use to work at Clairton Coke Works and also at Edgar Thompson when I was younger so we both know that is some ass busting work.

It just sounded like to me that you were basing Lloyd's entire career on a play or two in the super bowl. I just don't think that is a fair evaluation of how good or great a player was based on a few plays. Dallas was a great team that year. I'm just trying to make the point that with what you are saying, we could critique any player then and base their whole career on a few plays when they got beat, burned or made a mistake.

I like guys who come up big in the biggest games, even though their seasonal stats may not be so great. For example I consider Franco Harris to be great and Bettis to be just very good. We, you and I, just have different perspectives on things, even though we both went through the smoke and fire of the mills. People who have never seen those ovens have no concept of what it's like.

I got ya, even though I disagree with ya. :) Yeah, I hear ya about the mills. People don't know what it is like to bust your ass until you work in the mill or work in hard labor. I remember about 10 yrs back when it was my first night there at Clairton, what an experience. I definitely don't miss it but the money sure was great and its a badge of honor of some sort to say that I've worked there. I still have friends that work there.

Bahahaha :lolol: Yep, those mills are as blue collar as you get and are what put us on the map and make you proud to say your from Pittsburgh, at least in my case. Afterall, thats where our franchise name came from, the steel mills. At least we still have Edgar Thompson in Braddock and Clairiton Coke Works in Clairiton. Although, the tree huggers, wacko environmentalists and EPA will probably see that those are shutdown in the near future and we'll sell ourselves out to China like we do with everything else.
