Williams had 8 sacks from the ILB position. Would he make a good OLB? Or was he helped inside by the linemen opening gaps for him? If Dude Dupree fails as expected by everyone but the coaches and some hard core fans and Chick proves to be lacking sufficient talent, would you try Williams at the OLB position? This assumes The other ILBs are doing a good enough job.

He's too small to handle the big tackles, he would need to add 25 pounds and his length isnt ideal for the outside position....

He's only 6-1. I know Harrison was only 6' but he's a different animal all together (uses leverage and insane lower body strength to rush). Typically, they want OLB taller than Williams.

Unfortunately he is one of our better options at ilb, we will probably need him there.

Lawerence Timmons used to get about 8 sacks or so too. But, he wouldn't of been good at the OLB either.

When Timmons was playing for the Steelers, they had REAL OLBs unlike now.

Timmons would have been fine at outside linebacker. He only moved inside because they had Woodley and Harrison outside. As a rookie, he mostly played as an edge rusher.

That doesn't mean Williams would work on the outside.

Didn't Timmons play OLB when Harrison was suspended for illegal hit on Browns WR? Massoquoi... whatever his name was.

Yes and it didn't work out well.

Vince got sacks because of the way we used our front. He was largely unaccounted for. Fort was even effective when used as the blitzer from the inside though only one sack but he had hurries and some good hits on qbs. Scheme helped those sacks from the inside backers.

We started bringing players from different spots for pressure by design. People are down on the OLBers about sacks but they created this defense to use others to get more sacks and it worked. Trouble was we lost shazier that covered up vacated areas while doing this. Mitchell didn't help with bad angles either.

In steps Edmund's to fill the shazier role in these situations. In steps Burnett to fill Mitchell's role in these situations. I believe they have a plan to shore this back up. Pursuit and multiple players getting to the ball will help the run defense and the extra safeties will help cover the pass as well. We will have to see how they bring it all together.

I don't believe Williams would be a good fit at outside linebacker. Not to mention the fact we're already thin at the outside linebacker position.

You think height alone describes a person's size? Oui Vea, you're way off.

When did a NFL drug test on Harrison show positive for PEDs? No one is a Harrison but Williams could easily be much better than Dude Dupree.

We need ILBs, why would we transition a starting ILB to OLB when we need ILBs?

Why did we try to use a Kordell as a quarterback?
