It's a team game, in case you forgot. All that matters is "scoreboard" as Jim Rome says. Jags caved our faces in twice, both at home.

I don't see it. Steelers were lucky last year with injuries to Luck, Rodgers and Watson. Steelers were more like a mediocre 9-7 team and the Jacksonville game proved it. The dropoff after New England and Jacksonville in the AFC is drastic, IMO. There's 2 really good teams in the AFC... and a bunch of average teams (Steelers, Titans, Ravens, etc) and about 2-3 bottom feeders.

I would say we are above average. but not elite. I agree that 13-3 was a mirage, just like Dallas in 2016.

I'm looking at the teams on paper and man we look very subpar compared to some of the juggernaughts coming up. Then again that may be a good thing...

    9-7 record for me lol

We have an above average offense. Below average defense. So it all evens out to "average." :icon e geek:

You forget, we handled the colts the yr before with luck...... we should've beaten the Pats if not for the refs not knowing what a catch is, and green bay was overrated before Roger's went down

Luck is a whole different beast on the Lucas Oil turf when he's 100% healthy. Luck is nothing great at Heinz Field. Obviously. I don't know about Packers being overrated with Rodgers. Hundley gave them fits and the Steelers had to come back to win that game. Rodgers, most likely, would have destroyed the Steelers D. We would have lost that shootout... like we lost to the Jags in the playoffs.

There will be a new break out team, or 2, in the AFC, and some who drop off. Happens every year. Jags were it last year, and I predicted it because Coughlin was running the show; have a structure with accountability and discipline and it's amazing what can happen.

The breakout team(s) come from a long list: Raiders, Broncos, Chargers, Bills, TN, Indy, Texans, Bengals....

I think the Steelers will get the #1 seed in the AFC this year.
Only roadblock is the Pats & we had em last year.
The Jags & Coughlin could beat us in the regular season & playoffs (they have always had our number) but will not have a better reg. season record.
As far as up n comers, I think that the Chargers are legit. Raiders have no D, Broncos with a lousy coach, Indy needs more pieces & the AFC south is not a cakewalk anymore, & the Bengals will finish behind the Rats thanks to A. Dalton,

Based on this, our 13-3 record was therefore a function of exceptionally good coaching. Luck averages out and coaching is what is left.

Yeah, maybe on the O-line and Special Teams. Todd Haley was not too bad either, regardless of what Ben thinks of him. The D side needed a major overhaul. We got it on D-line and secondary... but missed it on D-coordinator and OLB coach.

Rod Woodson calls out the steelers defense, seems this defense has some big challenges this year, not sure they can be any better than last year myself....

If we go 6-0 in div (or 5-1) we only need to scratch out 4-5 more wins to win the div., is my guess.

So, looking at it like that....

KC - at home? Gotta lean towards a W

@ TB - I'm leaning towards classic Tomlin crapping the bed vs. not so good a team. And Sept in Tampa = hot and humid, but at least it's a night game. L

ATL - Who knows what ATL will be like, or any team in the NFCS year-to-year. Home, so W.

Car - I think we can win it at home. W

@ Jax - Loss. Might even be a beat down. Glad it's a night game in Oct. L

@ Den - We usually lose there. L

    LAC - Home W.

@ Oak - I'll go out on a limb and say surprise west coast W. I'm not sure how good the Raiders will be under Gruden. W

    Pats - L.

@ NO - L. They will rip our D into shreds.

That's 5 wins outside the div. It should be enough to win div.

The Bucs game is a MNF one so I wouldn't sweat that one. Steelers own Monday nights for some reason. The Jags are Sunday night and that one could go either way.

Yea, but Tomlin might get that "deer in headlights" look to him and just not be able to make adjustments. Winston might rip our pass D apart.

Doesn't matter. It could be Landry Jones at Qb and the Bucs riding a huge win streak and for some unexplainable reason when the big lights are on for MNF the Steelers show up and win. It's crazy. I do a thread every year. Heck if the AFCCG could be played on Mondays this team would have 10 Superbowls.

Looks like Jamie Winston may be suspended for the steeler game. Could help could hurt knowing how we make backups look a lot of the time.

WTH happened? Well crap. Looks like I'll have to be positive about the Bucs game. That was the game Tomlin was sure to lose with his lack of preparedness. Bucs backup QB and RBs may still torch the Steelers D... like the Ravens did with Mallet in '15.

Bucs whipped Steelers at Heinz Field in '14 with Glennon at QB. Hell... Glennon won again with the Bears last year. Might as well elevate Glennon to Brady-status.

No way the Steelers go 6-0 in their division. More like 4-2.
