hes saying all the right things. .he seems sincere.. he seems to be appreciative.. he seems to be "steeler blood"... lets hope that continues next year at this time.. why cant we sign him NOW.. why do we have to wait? lock him up now while hes in the mood and show wallace we got the big guy.. so thats less leverage for wallace? is it NOT possible to do a deal with him now?

I like this. Sign Brown to a new deal and tell Mike good luck. Reward the team player and not the diva.

so why dont we sign brown now to a long deal.. sanders scares me since he cant seem to stay on the field.. got those bad feet? but sign brown and that takes some of the leverage away from wallace.. show him. this is how you act.. this is how you are rewarded... ? or is there a reason why we cant lock AB up for 5 years NOW while hes in the mood to sign? i dont understand.. i think wallace agent is in the burg... seems he would be doing everythign he can to keep an eye on him? and hes the same agent as ward had...

The are "Young Money" but broke....embarrassing  I hope this statement doesn't cause bitter feelings between young money. What is a decent but not insulting contract for wallace? I'm calling out all the gurus on this board.

Thanks for the link Tomlin Era! Its so nice to hear this in today's NFL. Players such as Brown are a rare breed in today's era.

I am pretty sure that under the new CBA we cannot sign one of our players to a new contract until they have been in the league for 3 years. This was probably a rule that owners insisted on to prevent 2nd and 3rd year players from holding out. The earliest that we can re-sign Brown is next year.

if he signs a contract this year (wallace) and gets say 7 mil. a year. the price will only go up more next year. wallace will have a cow next year because brown may get more than him, say 8 mil.. does anyone think he wouldn't want to hold out again next year because of it?

We have to wait and see if Brown is a diva, or team player.

BTW, if it comes down to a HUGE difference in pay, I don't think I've seen a 'team player' anywhere, at any job, in the history of the universe.
If we offer Brown $5 mill/year for 4 years, someone else offers $7 mill/year for 6 years, then we'll see.

All players should accept the salary offered by the team based on the "team player" approach.

Brown seems to know exactly what to say. Actions speak louder though. Time will soon tell. I do like this guys attitude and work ethic though. I just hope he shows up on the field this year like he did last season.

Of course, it could be that he seems sincere, steeler blood etc. because he's saying the right things...

And there's nothing wrong with that. I like Brown a lot as a player. But saying the right things isn't really all that difficult, if you've got a good head on you (take note, Ben and Mike). Fans aren't that hard to please, really, in terms of off-season soundbites. CantonSteel is right: performance on the field is really what matters. If it wasn't, Patrick Bailey would be our starting linebacker right now.

There isnt any decent money for MW right now, untill he starts playing consistant like a top 5 WR we cant put a top 5 price on his value. Mike should quit his pouting, sign his tender, then go out on the field and prove he is a top 5 guy, then we can give him a 5 year deal in the 30 mill range, but before we can do that he needs to give us a top 5 16 game performance....

i totally disagree.. if as you say... saying the right things really isnt that difficult then more players would be doing it .. but .. for every one talking like brown . you have 9 talking like wallace.. so it cant be that easy or more guys would be doing it ... i think the terms is IT SHOULDNT BE THAT DIFFICULT.. but sure seems to be for 90% of the players that open their mouth and insert foot ...

Yeah, I know what you mean. I guess there's two separate issues there, though. First: Brown saying good things and how much it means - which is really the flip version of Ben saying something negative which is then interpreted and turned into something else... and the same point stands: performance matters more than soundbite, and just because we happen to agree with what they're saying doesn't make it any more or less authentic or honest than one we don't.

Second: why can every player not have some sense to learn the right things to say? Which is kind of similar to saying why can't every player have the kind of work ethic and humility that Brown seems to be showing... and my answer to that is - I don't know, but we're very lucky to have Antonio Brown!

We signed Ward for 23 mill, he was a top 10-15 WR, but was a top 5 blocker. Wallace may prove he is a top 10 instead of a 5, historicly the steelers have never paid a WR more than than average in the mid 20 million range, remember Plax wanted 27 mill and we let him go. with the way cap space is restricted today I dont think we will see any steeler receiver breaking the 40 mill range anytime soon, max 30 mill is about their limit, it's much cheaper to draft two rookies high in the draft than it is to pay one WR 40-50 mill like the dolphins found out with their 45 mill guy (cant remember his name) might be Marshall, anyway they unloaded him on the bears this year...

Hines top 5 blocker? top 5? pleaseeeeeeeee name 1 not 4 but 1 better.. EVER.. EVER. if he is not #1 all time blocking WR id love to see a better one.. remember when he broke keith rivers jaw as a rookie with the bengals.. he simply looked at him.. gave that million dollar smile and said... "welcome to the NFL"

Talk is cheap we will see when he becomes a free agent and he doesn't like the Steelers offer.
