The Bell franchise tag should be rescinded. The Steelers still need to improve upon the other side of the ball. With the money they save from his tag, they could sign a great back and linebacker and still have money left over. If they don't, scoring won't matter. They scored 42 against Jacksonville and still lost.

I'm all about giving Bell the boot, but how are these great players we're going to sign?

And give the money to? And run the ball with?

There was a time to dump him. They missed the opportunity and are very dependent on Bell now. Give him 400 touches. Run the wheels off. He isn't coming back.

We could always do it NE style . Replace him with 3 or 4 guys. Conner is not a bad runner , he can be a good 2 down RB. We signed Ridley he has good Power and could be a short yardage option. Find a decent pass catching RB or we could motion in a WR like a bunch of Teams do and Bell would not be missed so much.

1 might argue that the unity of the Team might yield greater results than the talent of Bell.

And you could blame Todd Haley for how he used Bell. Although Tomlin is known for running the runners until the wheels fall off.

We have some pretty good RBs. They are hungry to show what they can do, which is great incentive. I wouldn't have a problem with letting him walk. We would get a comp pick which should be a 3rd minimum. No it won't be the same but it doesn't mean it won't workout. Hendricks would be a nice addition.

I’m surprised no one brought this subject up before?

A decent pass catching RB, they drafted one in Jaylen Samuels.

Mychael Kendrick is a linebacker that can help them. Adrian Peterson, Demarco Murry, or Jamal Charles are some running backs that are still available. This will allow the younger gus some touches as well.

I can get on board with kendrick, but those other guys are hot garbage.

I would take a chance on Kendricks, all those RBs are washed up no thanks. Peterson complained when he didn't get the ball enough in New Orleans.

Bell's here for this season. He should have a banner season if he stays healthy for that 17 mill from his next suitor. They went all in to make a run. No Lombardi and it was a waste of money.

I would be all for it if like others said, there were other players to spend that $14 million on. There aren't now, so run his a$$ 400x and send him packing!

Does anyone think he gives his all for the team this year? He will make his 14.5 mil. no matter what. Do you think he really has to ball out to show other teams he's worth a ton of money? He can play injured all year and someone will pay his butt next year. My God Washington paid a useless NT 100 million a few years ago. Bell doesn't have any incentive to play hard for this team for any reason or he would be in camp showing dedication. He is about Bell first and foremost and he knows he's getting paid now and in the future. I think we have plenty in Conner, Samuels, Franklin and Ridley. Add hendricks and we could be a far better team with some extra cash.this:cool:

I think Bell is more valuable to this team than any combination of free agents left. I agree that the Steelers cannot afford him after this year.

Are you worried about him under performing? He might try to work less to save himself for that big contract next year.

I disagree! Bell is a great back, no doubt. A part of what makes Bell so good is his offensive line. We will still have that.

It will be interesting if there are good players who will be released on cut-down day (that the Steelers might want), and if there will be teams competing to sign those players.

All I know is he got more work last season than the previous and his numbers dropped. Could've been rust from no camp or lingering healing from the leg injury in the post season... Who knows? But his numbers were down, his attitude and asking price up. He might need 400 touches to get his numbers from last year. Believe it or not, RB's deteriorate pretty fast in the league even if they remain mostly uninjured which in Bells case has already happened a handful of times. I'd go out on a limb and say the team would be better for **** canning him as well for a couple reasons we've all already discussed. I also think it might send a message to the other kids such as... "you can learn a lot from a dummy".

Robert, you didn’t think this one through. If he doesn’t perform, he won’t get that next big contract. Plus, his ego is too big to not think he is the best.

I think Demarco Murray still has something left in the tank. His problem has always been nagging injuries. If you added him to our stable of backs now I think he could contribute. His best years were in Dallas when he had an awesome O line. We also have an awesome O line. Could be a good fit for 1 year. I would imagine he would be dirt cheap.
