Ben knows all the arrows pointing at him this season. I expect this to be the most effort he's ever given as a QB. He has the abilities to put this team on his back and take them all the way

In this scenario, are we talking about Jamies Winston-style “try too hard to make a play” INTs or Neil O’Donnell-style “SBXXX” INTs?

The way I see it is Ben will either put the team on his back and have a great year or he pushes too hard because the kid is here now.

ben has clunker games every year. "maybe I just don't have it anymore" sucks the media in and boom 10 td performance the next week.

same for injuries. Breaks both legs, lower back, punctured lung and borderline anyeurism and plays the next game. lol
    *reality its a sprained ankle*

 Like Mason would do any better. Remember when Buffalo benched their starter and put in Nathan Peterman and he threw 5 ints.

People have bad games. It doesn't mean they are bad players. It happens in hockey all the time.

I would entertain it if the INTs were mostly on the QB. It wouldn't mean they lost their job. Just means they had a tough day. Could be the best thing for everyone including them.

But Ben hasn't had too many of those.

So I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Whats always been the way? I've never heard anyone chanting for Landry, Mac :lolol:

And we are a long way from Nolls days. Bens never been benched and there has been plenty of games he could have been. You can bench a player making a buck fifty, harder to do when they make 20 million. Different era.

the backup qb is always better if the starter is having a bad game. fans are quick to want to see the next guy. :clapping:

as far as noll it doesnt matter what era, the buck fifty back then was big money too.

    Doing his laundry lol

Do we need Mason, Dobbs and Jones this year. Which one do you think will get the heave ho. My prediction is Landry goes.

Then why weren't the fans chanting for Landry when Ben has bad games and how come he is never benched? How come no franchise QB is benched when they have bad games these days?

    You're kidding yourself.

Is the goal to win games and ultimately a Super bowl or is the goal to make your 20 million dollar a year QB feel good about himself for having a crap game?

Mike Tomlin''s organic approach to coaching doesn't allow for the pulling of a starting Qb for poor play because evendors bad play really bad play by a starter in his mind still means a better chance of winning. The same way he believes that no matter how inspired a back up is playing in relief of an injured starter as soon as the starter can go he gets his spot back because you don't lose it to injury. The standard is the standard unless you're a starter then you can be below standard and keep your job.

I pretty much agree with leaving your starter in. The only time I can remember that I was in favor of benching Ben was the 49ers game, he clearly was too injured the be playing. Most of the time though, I am of the opinion that a starter at less than 100% is still better than your back up QB.

As for the money question, look at it from the owners standpoint. You're investing all that money in a guy, his ass better be on the field and figure it out. You don't pay 20 million for your QB to catch splinters. You can be damn well certain that philosophy is imparted onto the coaches. Agree with it or not, thats just the way it is. For any player/position making exuberant amounts of money.

Remember the signs at Three Rivers Stadium when Malone was the QB and Scott Campbell was his backup:

SOUP MALONE! GIVE CAMPBELL A TRY! :lolol:

I have no idea what that first part is supposed to mean.

As for Eli, coach fired. Thanks for proving my point.

Doggone auto correct. Boos instead of good.

You didn't say anything about the coach being fired, you asked for an example of a franchise QB being benched and I gave you one.
