It looks like either Wilcox or Hilton won't make the team.

Landry Jones is better than Dobbs, it's not even close. The question is whether Tomlin is willing to give up on Dobbs after only one pre-season. Tomlin brought in Michael Vick and kept him even though he didn't even bother to learn our playbook. I hope Dobbs is cut but I think Tomlin will cut Landry Jones instead.

Derius Heyward-Bey should have been cut a long time ago. The only reason he is still on the team is because he plays the gunner on special teams, and actually gives a lot of effort at it but he is keeping some good young talented WR's off the roster who deserve a chance to show what they can do.

McCullers, yeah, I think they cut him now that they have Frazier but I would keep him just because of the money he is making. Big Mac Mike is not a pass rusher and doesn't really offer much ability to chase anyone down but with his size and length he SHOULD easily be able to take on two gaps, which is what you want in a true nose tackle. If they go with only 4 ILB's or only 4 OLB's then we can keep both McCullers and Frazier.

I think both Toussaint and Ridley are gone. We usually keep 3 RB's and we have Bell, Conner, and Samuels.

At WR I think it's Brown, Smith-Schuster, Washington, Heyward-Bey, and hopefully Rogers over Hunter.

Looking at the roster we still need 1 or 2 backup OLB's and 1 backup ILB.

Hilton will not make the team? Wilcox was going to be gone in the aftermath of this draft.

    Hilton though?

When I read the title I seriously thought the thread was about who should be fired after such a horrid draft. It _should_ have been about that.

He can't be talking about Hilton. Confusing him with someone else perhaps.

I sure hope so. Hilton is a stud and there is no reason to replace him.

Yeah cause he has less credibility then some message board guy.......

Everyone has an opinion and someone has to be right but to think there is no doubt LJ is staying is wrong. They are gonna have to fight it out and the Steelers will choose who to keep.

also for those who missed it Eli Rogers is not on the current roster

Someone here proclaimed he was going to be our starting slot receiver for the next 10 years.

Ive pointed this out a couple times and apparently there is this belief he will be re-signed.

He wont be, unless there is an injury because the roster will already be set by the time he is ready to play again.

They usually keep 5 Safeties. We have Davis, Burnette, Behre, Edmunds, and Allen. So, that's five right there. What guy does Hilton knock out of there?

Could we keep 6 Safeties? We could but that would mean we only keep 4 ILB's, or 4 OLB's and we currently only have 3.

There's no getting around the math.

Had to double check and, sure enough, Hilton isn't a safety... he's "officially" a CB... he just does a lot of edge blitzes. That may be an academic distinction depending on how they end up mixing up things.

    29 Allen, Brian CB 6-3 215 24 2 Utah
    25 Burns, Artie CB 6-0 197 22 3 Miami (FL)
    23 Haden, Joe CB 5-11 195 29 9 Florida
    28 Hilton, Mike CB 5-9 184 24 2 Mississippi
    Johnson, Trey CB 5-11 170 23 R Villanova
    35 Phillips, Dashaun CB 5-11 186 27 3 Tarleton State
    24 Sensabaugh, Coty CB 5-11 187 29 7 Clemson
    Summers, Jamar CB 6-0 190 R UCONN
    20 Sutton, Cameron CB 5-11 188 23 2 Tennessee

Yeah, Hilton was the dime CB last year. And there’s no way he’s going, barring some misdemeanour.

Like what was pointed out Hilton is a CB not a S but if he was a S he would be on that list over Allen or Behre since he played so well for us last year. Why are you so down on Hilton he was an out right stud, I think I read a stat that he had the most blitzes from the CB position. He adds some nice pressure while still being good in coverage.

It's a sure bet Rudolph will light it up late as he'll be throwing to his college receiver as well.

Sorry, didn't mean to start a panic. You have a "Hilton" jersey huh?

I'm not down on Hilton, I had him listed as a Safety. As for him being a "stud" the Steelers only gave him a 1 yr contract last January. His stats were good but he's another undersized slot corner.

    Brian Allen is a CB.

    Marcus Allen is a Safety.

So what are you trying to say, your not down on him, he had good stats BUT he is an undersized corner? You said either Hilton or Wilcox won't make the team but many here are wondering why you would put Hilton in there as I don't think anyone else feels that way? Not busting your chops just trying to find out why cause Hilton was a bright spot for us on defense last season. He played 58% of our snaps 64 tkls, 4 sacks and 2 int's I will take that all day from our slot guy no?

Somehow I have trouble using “Stud” with a guy who is 5-9. But I understand your point.

The Dobbs vs LJ debate is mostly based on Dobbs limited snaps way back last preseason. I’m guessing none of us has seen his improvement in practice since then? A year under his belt should certainly help him in camp and preseason this year. Sure LJ has more experience, but I still think the best man wins this battle. Plus, Dobbs certainly still has upside. LJ has peaked. Training camp and preseason will make the difference.

I’ll wait until one of them is cut to make my prediction.

Once again, I had him listed as a Safety. We have Davis and we signed two Safety free agents and drafted two and Hilton is only on a one year contract so he seemed like the sixth Safety when we usually only keep five.

I'm sure he's going to be with the team for a long time and become better than even Tom Brady.
